BELL JAR

BELL JAR

If I went missing,
          Would anybody care?
If I slept in too late, and never got up again,
                    Would it matter?
                    Would time stop?
                    Would the world freeze?
Would anybody notice at all?
          It’s this feeling of invisibility
That gets me every time
Conversations held
Around
By tongues that never speak to
Me.
Around me, life flourishes
          But I’m trapped
                    Underneath a Bell Jar
Like a wilting rose
Dead petals
          Each one a separate tear
That I refuse to cry
                   Don’t make me
If you can be bothered,
          You ask what’s wrong, but
Somehow I can tell,
You don’t really want to know.
