Gallant Warriors From the Sea
Upper Right book: Death From Afar ;by Chandler & Chandler were a series of books on USMC Sniping that was used as a reference and inspiration by the Scout Sniper students of the 6th Marine Battalion. This book cover was used by the second class that graduated for their souvenir t-shirts. Click on the image for more information.

Right:
Sniper ;by Adrian Gilbert was also required reading as it gave a well rounded history and theory of the world of sniping.

Normally it would be imposible to see the Marine Scout Sniper team moving. This is an example as how the color of the garnish on their "gillie" suits and face paint contrast or blend with the grass.

The Scout Sniper team is armed with the MSSR 5.56mm for the shooter and a M203 for the observer. The observer can put out a reasonable amount of fire to cover the team if contact with the enemy is unavoidable. The 40mm grenade rounds include high explosive, smoke, and when available CS/Tear gas.(Very distracting to pursuers)
These were among the recomendations that were put to use from the readings required by the course director.(Commanding Officer, 6th Marine Battalion).
