Welcome to the home of PMT - the Pretoria Model Train club.

Feel free to explore our site and enjoy what we have on offer.

Some Commercial News

The 2007 model Railway Convention has come and gone!  It is with great pride that I can announce that the next convention, to be held in early 2009 will again be co-hosted by Gauteng clubs in Johannesburg and Pretoria.  Please keep an eye on the PMT pages for updates when they become available!

The goal of this web site is to give our members and visitor an idea of what is happening at the club, and when.  It is also hoped that we make it a little more easy to contact us by supplying info on this site.

PMT has a very active bunch of guys, and as far and regularly as possible, new photos of the most recent events will be put on the 'Club photos' pages.

Please feel free to contact any of the committee members if you have any queries regarding membership or upcoming events, or if you might be interested in sponsoring us. We also have a very high quality club magazine, called 'Signal / Sinjaal'.  If you might want to place a add, please contact our Editor.

A brief background

PMT is a model train club, bases in Pretoria, the executive capitol city of South Africa (we also have a legal and administrative capitol city, namely Bloemfontein and Cape Town respectively).  We operate model trains in both HO and N scale, but we do not restrict members to a specific country/era with their models.  Our club uses the modular approach to model railroading, i.e.. we have a lot of 'tables' or modules with our track and scenery on it that we have to set up before we start running trains, and break it all down when we are done.

At the club we try to keep a general interest in trains, and specifically aim to grow the hobby of model railroading.  In keeping to these goals, we try to arrange regular workshops for members, which can be in the form of a field visit to some railroad related facility, a demonstration/presentation type workshop, and occasionally a hands on workshop, usually to maintain our modules, and share some skill with others.

Enjoy your visit at our station, and feel free to leave us a note in our guest book, or contact any of the committee members on either email or telephonically.
