The piston and liner from British Polar engine 215 (in background) that seized in 1992 when the power station was used during the power shortage when the southern hydro lakes were low. The mishap occurred after an unsuitable grade of oil was used for cooling the piston. It had overheated after the oil-cooling galleries in the piston coked up. (Photo: Bruce Burr)
