Teachers will continually develop innovative uses of technlogy to enhance the learning environment and effieciently manage the school. Teachers will continue to acquire new ways in which to infuse the most modern technology into the curriculum. Internet Safety Suggestions for kids by kids!!!

On February 26th, Officer Mark Walker was a guest speaker at our PTA meeting. He gave a presentation about Internet safety. Two of my fourth grade students thought it would be a good idea for me to post some of the tips he gave at the meeting in a way that kids could understand.

Here is a list Courtney and Mackenzie gave me of what they thought were the top tips they learned and what they think all parents and students should know about staying safe on the internet.

  • Think before you type (once you hit send you can't take anything back).
  • If you don't know who you are talking to get off the computer and tell an adult.
  • Don't give out important personal information over the internet.
  • Don't put inappropriate pictures online because they can never be removed.
  • Don't be afraid to say no to somebody you're chatting with.
  • Be smart on the internet.
  • Pick good websites that are appropriate for your age.
  • Always follow the rules and listen to your parents and teachers while on the internet.
  • Even though there are dangerous people and places on the internet, don't be afraid to use it, just be careful and smart.

I thought these were very good suggestions and was very impressed by my fourth grade students!!
