I saw a ghost with waving arms;
Its headless body bore no legs.
It waved and danced and beckoned me
Before crumpling up among the pegs

Its friend and neighbour nearby
Changed its shape to lie quite still
Then turned around and twisted high
Before billowing out as if to KILL.

All their friends went wild with glee
With flailing arms and bodies shaking
Leaping out to flick a tree
In invitation as though making,

In black night's darkness by full moon
Invisible forces tweak their limbs
Shirts, pyjamas, towels, sheets
Thrashed out and squirmed to silent hymns.

The dancing ghosts of dark, dark night
Rested then paused - a haunting  sight

What are you looking at with that daft grin?
You said you'd bring the washing IN !
