Dr K.V.Venkataramana (55) is the author of six poetry volumes and two books of translation. His poems have been published in various magazines, journals and anthologies in India and abroad. His poetic career began in 1971 when his very first poem “By the River’ appeared in Mirror (Bombay) while he was still in college. This encouraged him to continue writing poems on various themes like Nature, man and God with youthful fervour.

Venkataramana’s poems have been recited over All India Radio, Mangalore, besides being translated into French, Korean Thai, Hindi and Kannada. His achievements have been listed in the Directories published by the American Biographical Institute (ABI), North Carolina, USA, and the International Biographical Centre (IBC), Cambridge, England. He was conferred an honorary degree of Doctor of Literature (D.Litt.) in recognition of his contribution to literature, at the X World Congress of Poets, held in Bangkok in 1988.

Venkataramana is a man of universal outlook, and his concern for his fellow-beings and all other things that make up this universe is clearly reflected in his poetry. Most of his poems have a mystical aura around them.

Venkataramana also writes articles and reviews books for newspapers and journals. Besides, he also devotes his free time for translating poems from Kannada to English and vice-versa. He is the winner of Michael Madhusudan Award (Kolkata) and Visvesvaraya Smaraka Engineers Diary Dashamanotsava Prashasti (Award) for Literature from Bharat Ratna Sir M.Visvsvesvaraya Engineering Pratishtana Trust (Regd.), Bangalore.
