I STOPPED THE PRISON, NEEDLES WANTED TO BUILD BY WRITING THE GOVERNOR< HOW CORRUPT CITY WAS:
THAT WAS DONE in 1999-2000, which certainly didnt endear the city government towards me. They had bought some special desert land which on it contains some historically important ANCIENT INDIAN SPRINGS. They would have capped it off for use by their prison, to make sure they never succeed, all environmental groups should be alerted. / On another occasion, downtown, I happened to walk upon Needles favorite construction co. (Phillips) about to bulldoze a historical house next to the Greyhound bus station. I ran about alerting locals, and they stopped, never to return there. However, near there, at 1040 W. Broadway, stood an older substantial building which used to house the old hospital and a seniors center. In its many windows were jagged glass so severe, it could have decapitated a child or anyone, trying to get inside or out. I began a letter writing campaign, and the city was finally forced via the San Bernardino county fire dept. to board it up. (THUS FINALLY PROTECTING THE TWO BANKS, Bank of America & Washington Mutual) THAT SIT ACROSS FROM IT< ROBBERS COULD HAVE USED IT TO HIDE IN, PREPARING FOR ROBBERY. DID THE BANKS APPRECIATE THIS?, OF COURSE NOT! Later, the city approved Phillips Construction co. $103,000.00 to bulldoze it down. WHAT A TERRIBLE WASTE! The front part of the building had been designed by its architect to withstand earthquakes. All it needed was cosmetic repair, and the city would have had a valueable public building. About the same time, I wrote then leader of the local Palo Verde Community college, Armando Gonzales, that a 2 1/2 story historical building, was so interesting, that if I ever got any real money, I would buy it. In the next two days, it was bulldozed to the ground! No warning or announcement given by city. Inside was a beautiful antique porcelain stove complete with oven, they crushed and hauled it. THIS IS A CITY ASKING THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT TO FUND THEIR CITY AS A HISTORICAL VALUEABLE. / When I first began to write Letters to the Editors of the Needles Desert Star Newspaper, I reading, discovered another loose cannon writer named Leon Berger, ex Needles, Ca., city manager, who was forced out in 1994. I called on the phone him to compliment his letters, and he began the conversation with, "Yes, I'm the one that stole FIVE MILLION DOLLARS FROM THE CITY." You have to admit that a class act confession, it appears, he signed a certain contract, that limits what he can address in his letters. Hes an intelligent crook, I think unlike Tom Parry, the next city manager who was merely devious. Mr. Ellis, local Needles High School vocational teacher, told me that Parry's personal physician had told Parry, because of a knee problem, not to play golf more than once a week. Parry ignored him, and played 3 times a week, enabling Parry to collect California State Disability, saying his knee was due to work conditions! The latest, when I left in Sept. 01, was a Professor of Government at a university for 14 years, a Mr. Rowe. I been told, he does what he is told.
