EDITOR RICHARDS HAS REFUSED me a gardening collumn, he said, he had all he needed, which at the time, was only Maggie McShan of the local musuem. At my urging, Barbara, mgr. of the local county library, broke the spell with her occasional collumn, and recently, a local 7th Day Adventist minister, Patrick Stevenson, writing about Christ returning. Lets not forget the occasional collumn by the city council person, Steve Thomas, who, uncharged took in his dead infant last August (2000). HE URGES US TO SUGGEST IDEAS FOR NEEDLES, CA. I HAVE ONE. ARREST HIM. Women in the nation, most recently in Phoenix, Arizona, have been sentenced to prison, he didnt have to smell a whiff of the place. WITHOUT POLICE REPORTS, we have only local gossip of criminal activity. The corporate owner of this newspaper empire, Charles Rathburn("the Mohave Valley Daily News, Laughlin Nevada Times, Needles Desert Star (760 326 2222), Valley Views, Laughlin Entertainer, Colorado River Weekender")recently spoke to the (Arizona) Mohave Valley Chamber Of Commerce (Arizona) at their luncheon meeting on the economic potentiality of the Tri-state area(Bullhead City, Az.,), I have had to eat his blocking my freedom of speech, in the most modest way of the citizen, a letter to a newspaper editor. Equally corrupt, I have found no attorney to take this case, because I am poor, and it would have to be on contingency. Freedom Of The Press is crucial to democracy, consider the journalists murdered in Mexico and other places without our rights, while these local jackals splash in the blood of what they died to protect. Where is the outcry? i used to have a small child that lived inside of me, but hope died. And I have become a cynical beast. Its not easy being a poet in America, where only the wealth of greed is acceptable or kissing the asses of art connosuers to get funding. And here, in Needles, Ca., I cant get a letter to the editor published. (Recently, one of their local interviewer-writers was fired, probably writing about the community unacceptables with fairness and integrity. Typical. Sooner or later, this town drives out its talented or its youth to go celebrate prosperity somewhere else. Never here, unless, you are a ruler, corrupt. Another time, they did a story on a local pyscoyic named DELEON. One of those types that hoards dogs in his residency, last I heard, he had nine German Shepherds in a tiny house, yeah, these are great bastions of free press, all in the game of local corruption and money laundering... |
