I have lived here in this lovely setting of cabins* since 1999. I was rudely introduced to the concept of it being a Meth lab*, when in 2000, early spring, I came into its courtyard, after dark, via the front entrance and smelled the most vile stink I have ever encountered, coming from a door leading to the office of the motel. which had a full kitchen inside. In shock, I did nothing, but then I reported to the local postmaster in writing, since he was the only federal officer I knew in the area. Cops floated around the place for a couple of days, but nothing happened. The owner (Louis Bravo*)had told me earlier, he had a "special relationship" with the local sheriff commander (Trumbull), it became quite obvious the extent of this friendship. As the months went on, I sent emails to the San Bernardino County District Attorney and SB Sheriff headquarters, and they have done nothing. Today, June 17, 01, I was accosted the second time in my residency by the right hand man of the owner. Police called, they did nothing. The issue was my trying to save his son from serious body injury because the kid insists on building an unsafe bycycle ramp onto a adjacent vacant lot. On which other kids of the area, ride through at odd hours (In the background of the photo, you can see the pigsty, Morris lived in, #15, Note the junk in the outside area, which was inside the tiny one room, like a black widow spiders nest. No wonder the kid was so abberational, that and the drugs, Jim Morris made and sold for the landlord.) Today, he had two large paper barrels and was going to put a flimsy piece of plywood on top for a bridge, lifting anyone on a bycycle at high speed some feet off of the ground. Ground that has sharp rocks in its surfacing. Landlord called, said it not his affair, I should contact sons father. Father not home. I tell owner, I will call Child Protective Services. Landlord contacts worker, who comes on vacant lot as I am to prune mulch for my garden. He threatens me, and I come into room, call 911. Officer Bailey, comes out for report, refuses to go with me to see dangerous barrel contraption. He leaves. I call 760-326-9200, and speak to Watch Commander Tim Smith, who says no reason for Bailey to visit barrel ramp. Which is outragious and irresponsible. Officer Bailey, in the past has taken the law into his own hands and ruled in issues, for him illegal.(see page 24) His refusing to see danger site is obstruction of justice. And it gave worker time to remove the barrels. Tim Smith passed the buck to the Code Enforcement agency saying matter wasnt a law enforcement issue. Linda of that agency had come about the bycycle ramp, talked to the kid instead of the father, who said he would get written permission, but she left WITHOUT telling him to clean up the area, which is like a minefield is waiting to trip someone passing through. Somebody could get sued. At the same time, I called Smith, I gave him information about a nearby antique shed on the railroad, next to upper Broadway, which someone has ripped up a piece of tin on its side, in which a closed door refrigerator(endangering especially children) sits along with curious 5 gallon plastic buckets of a grayish powder. Meth residue storage?. He said he would call Code Enforcement. Regarding this, I tried earlier, calling their Sheriff dispatcher giving specific directions, but she said it was on the right hand side, I said, "No, its on the left side!" She then said I " was being rude." Then I called the San Bernardino county fire Dept. 760-326-2833, and a Mike said it "was a law enforcement problem." When I explained there was a stack if empty paper cement bags, that could be set afire by any vandal, he said."Oh sure, like a match tossed at my house." His arrogance was remarkable. Maybe, he was in the middle of a game of cards; to not care for the danger to children, always inquisitive, is barbaric. This is a desert area, hot and dry, today, it was 118 degrees, fires dont burn here, they explode into intensity. For him to be so casual is unforgiveable. I will say, the local fire chief, Robert Lyons, has in the past been very helpful. About the above motel* problem, with my own sparse funding expense, I have put in a lovely garden at my room number 8. One that is locally famous, because since I moved here, in 1999, I have put out a monthly newsletter about the garden, with my discovered cheap solutions to keep it beautiful. In that monthly newsletter(7,3,01, I received email from Terry Anderson refusing to let me use their library computer printers to make a copy of NEWSLETTERJULY on this website, so I can distribute it to local citizens. See pageLibrary5), I have given free advertising of the motel and I'm always finding folks who might stay, some do. I've given and given and given. When the air conditioner went out, I bought my own fans which barely cool. Last year, the shower developed a leaky sprayer, the owner let it run for 10 days and nights before replacing it. I have heard his prayers, he treats God as if He were a vending machine. (THIS IS JUNE 20, 3 DAYS AFTER FIRST REPORTING THE SHED WITH POSSIBLE FIRE AND CHILDREN DANGER: OUR CITY CODE ENFORCEMENT AND SHERIFF DEPT. ARE REFUSING TO INVESTIGATE, PASSING THE BUCK TO EACH OTHER! TALK ABOUT PUTTING THE PUBLIC AT RISK BY STUPIDITY. DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEA WHAT COPS ARE PAID FOR SUCH SUBTERFUGE?, A LOT.)(This is being written on July 5, the shed still has its ripped opening with the refrigerator no doubt, waiting for a child to suffocate, this is criminal!) Within the last week of June, I called the sheriff dept., an officer Shelhammer responded, and viewing the bike ramp agreed it was extremely dangerous and said I had gone beyound what a person could do to save kids from serious injury. Today, I found stuff in my birdbaths, and a speciman plant destroyed, obviously by trampling. Officer Weart comes out, refused to write a report, and said to me, "If you hadnt acted so high handed, the plant might not have been bothered." He left. Today(6,24), worker accosted me again, this time, an officer Kinnecut came, and after seeing squalor father forces his son to live in, said he would do something to aid the kid. Finally, a ray of hope IF something is indeed done. This is yet another example of what Meth is costing this nation, not mentioning the terribly expensive medical and hospitalization costs. Oh yeah, the shed issue, Code Enforcement tells me, they're just going to reclose building WITHOUT investigating the grayish powder in buckets filling the place. Stupid. (*Bravos brother Joe Bravo, has local rap sheet of many arrests, recently out of jail HAS ESCAPED THREE STRIKES LAW, WHY?) Certainly seems to point to local law enforcement corruption. (Last year I reported to local city Code Enforcement, that Louis Bravo had spent thousands of dollars rennovating secretly the inside of all his considerable property holdings in Needles,Ca., WITHOUT one building permit. All work done by his unlicensed worker not following anykind of code. Tim Duncan, official said, "This sort of thing had never happened, and it would not be put on the back burner." Which is of course what did happen, nothing. Now hes the city building inspector, and supposely according to Linda, the boss of Code Enforcement, but recently, his dept. refused to be part of any of the issues on this page. Racketeering in Needles, Ca. is perfectly acceptable, no matter how many laws are broken.)Today, 6,24, I passed near the offending shed, its back still open, with the icebox inside waiting for some child to crawl in and suffocate. This is typical nonresponsibilty in Needles, Ca. July 4, 01, Linda of city code enforcement has informed me, historical shed will be bulldozed down! All they had to do was remove the door from the refrigerator and close up the tear in its tin skin. The bike ramp is still not completely clean. The kids father was not held accountable. The kid is living with his father in a tiny room surrounded by junk inside and outside. Typical Needles city government.7,4,01, A CITY SECRET HAS RECENTLY BEEN REVEALED TO ME. (July 23, today, I called sheriff dept. about tenant here who takes care of children while wife works. His children in my area, were slipping on slick tiles in sidewalk, his drinking partner said I "was sick in head for not wanting children in the area"-I called sheriff for 800 number for Child Protective Services (18008278724, 8,10,01, who too, have done nothing), because they wouldnt send officer out. They didnt have it, I got it off of computer and called them, giving it to them. Typical. Aug. 10, shed still has rip in tin, waiting for a child to death in the refrigerator...all agencies ignoring danger to them... (*Cleverly, they are using the stink of the adjacent railway diesel train engines to disguise their making of the stinking Meth. No doubt, giving the local Sheriff dept. ample excuse to not ever close them down.) |
