"This poem reflects on how we as humans think that our own way is best. Many of us believe that we know ourselves better than anyone and that we know what we want and need more than anything or anyone else. And there are so many people that believe that we all make our own destiny, and that it isn't the hands of some great master plan. Yet, if all this were true, why then do we continue to search and search throughout life for the one thing that will make us happy and content? Why do we continue to fall into unchartered waters that will overwhelm us with troubles, hurt and pain? All these actions are our own doing....yet God sees every step we make, hoping that we will turn to Him for the answers, because only He has them. We can't find them in the material things in life that we think we can. It isn't in money, or treasures, or security, or health, or alcohol, or sex, or drugs....or whatever we seek the meaning of life in. Only God has those answers, and despite the mistakes we make, He still waits for us to make that choice. But regardless, He is always there. And for us Christians, while some of us think that we can change the way people think just by telling them what we believe, only God can change a heart. We can only pray for them, but God can change them, not us. He is the one who can bridge the gap between sin and and life. He is the one who can give us the security and answers for which we search....and only He can build that bridge for us to cross over those troubled waters. The answer is in Him and His everlasting Truth."
This poem is dedicated to two people ~ Janey, who gave me the wisdom to see that I can't change the way someone thinks or believes....and to the other, who only God can change their heart, not me.
Thank you both for your inspiration ~ you know who you are.
