Castles in the Sand

Feeling secure in our castles of life
built on wealth and stability
Found within power and financial gain
for living comfortably ~
These promises that the world gives to us
offers of hopes and dreams
Becomes the foundations for our way of life
that shows us what to believe.

Living securely in our comfort zones
just as we have for hundreds of years
Accepting the truth that we've come to know
through hardship, pain and tears ~
Seeking comfort in financial wealth
based on the teachings of man
While building our castles upon the beliefs
we choose to understand.

The foundation of truth that the world sees
establish life upon solid ground
Financial security, wealth and power,
the comforts of life we have found ~
But these are the promises of the world
there is no real security
In building our castles upon the sand
with no hope for eternity.

A parable once told of a foolish man
who built his house upon the sand
When the waves came crashing his castle caved in
for it could not withstand ~
But then there was also someone wiser
who built his upon solid ground
And when the storms came his house stood firm,
it did not come crashing down.

Every story has a moral
and this one seems to be
Do not put your faith in the power of man
for it will never set you free ~
For man cannot meet man's every need
though the world doesn't understand
That building castles on power and wealth
is like building in the sand.

Soon the tide will come rolling in
and wash away the dreams
That one has built their trust within
financial security ~
But only in God's solid foundation
can we learn to see
That life is more than power and wealth
we had been taught to believe.

Everyone has it so easy today
with their luxuries at hand
But one day it will all disappear
because they're just the creations of man ~
For there will never be prestige or wealth
or happiness found within,
The ways of the world verses the Truth
as man's castles are caving in.

Feeling secure in a comfortable life
based on God's everlasting Truth
Such is the promise for our lives,
acceptance for our reproof ~
For our foundation is in His love
as we're guided by His hand,
While the world keeps seeking wealth and power
to build their castles in the sand.

"This poem is inspired by thoughts and convictions, as well as a song that says pretty much the same thing. Security is not found within the things the world teaches us ~ such as wealth, stability, finanicial gain and security, power, prestige and even beauty. Security is found in one person alone, and that isn't man....but God. Putting one's trust in anything but is like building castles in the sand. They will never last. Once the tide comes rolling in, our castles will cave in and wash away. God is the only security....and His everlasting Truth. For many years now, the world has taught us to believe in other things like the stars (astrology), money and wealth, family....the things which we can see. And many people think how can they believe in something they cannot see? How can they truly know of its existence if one cannot see it? The answer is simple ~ through faith. Faith can move mountains. God says that we can do anything through Him, but without Him we can do nothing. Putting out trust and faith in anything but God, is building castles in the sand....and they will never last. Only God's Truth will."
