Reflections in the pages
of another place and time
My life captured in pictures
and scripted within rhyme ~
Detailed in narration
expressions of my heart
Coloured with the brushstrokes
that perfect my work of art.

Memories everlasting
throughout all the years
Blends the joy and happiness
that wipes away the tears ~
Fashioned in a season
from ashes to beauty,
A tale of a love song
that lost its harmony.

Myth of fact or fiction?
no one really knows
But deep within my heart
I know how the story goes ~
It's not written on the pages,
there are no photographs,
Just the faded imagery
and the memory of his laugh.

The pure fascination
a forbidden love affair
Reminiscent of the time
our very souls we bared ~
With sensual desire
the touch of your caress
Enveloped in the warm embrace
of your nakedness.

Rendezvous in secret
an illicit mystery
Surrendering the virtue
of my chastity ~
Welcoming the pleasures
of passionate allure,
Making love beneath the stars
by the shadow of the moon.

In seasoning design
a radiant beauty
I stepped out from the ashes,
a woman now in me ~
Happiness in abundance
filled my very soul
Knowing that the love we shared
is one that made me whole.

But sadly, dreams have a way
of ending all too soon
Taking everything away
except the hidden truth ~
Though "underage" they called it
we knew they couldn't see
The bond of love between us
that now grew inside of me.

Forbidden, but not forgotten
you were taken away
To a another life in prison
for "statutory rape" ~
And I was left without you
with just the memory
Of what would live forever
as our love's legacy.

The diary of my heart
reveals the hidden pain
Of things I never thought
I would feel again ~
But when I reminisce
on those romantic interludes
I'm ever thankful for the gift
that I received from you.

Her name is Keira-Leigh
and she's the image of her dad
With eyes of the bluest ocean
she's the greatest love I have ~
She's the light of my life
and the beat within my heart,
The essence of my being
conceived under the stars.

Memories not forgotten
of another time,
Reflecting in the life
that we once designed ~
But as I close the chapter
of my heart's diary,
I will remain forever thankful
for your gift of Keira-Leigh.

"This poem is a reflection of one girl's life as she turns the pages of an album with verse and photos in from her past....a reflection of a forbidden love ~ an affair she embarked upon with an older man when she was still underage.   The man who brought her out of her shell, and gave her the strength to step out of the shadows and into the radiant light of beauty.   With him, she became a woman, and felt empowered by the love they shared together.   But her dream, their dream, of love came to an end when their affair was discovered.   Because of her age, he was imprisoned and she was left to bear her own punishment....and ultimately, the gift of life that became a legacy of the love they shared ~ in the form of a baby girl.   Toward the end of the poem, we see this young woman blossom in the joys of motherhood with the passion she now embraces in her little girl.   At the end, the young woman has made peace with the broken past that took her lover away from her, as she closes the chapter of that life within the diary of her heart....and upon reminiscing, she remains forever thankful for this gift he imparted to her ~ the gift of life.   Her daughter, Keira-Leigh."
