"This poem has an important message in it that we may all learn from. Money isn't everything! Sure, it helps makes life more comfortable, and in this day and age it is essential (to a point), but it does not offer all that we hope it would. But despite this, so many become enslaved to money, hoping to make more, to get more, to help make their life more comfortable. But if they have the necessities in life that one cannot live without, then why is having more money essential to life? There is so much pressure for children today to have the latest toys, X-Boxes, DVDs and whatnot. Even adults feel it. In turn, money becomes a "god" without them even realising it. So many want more in life. More money, more wealth....we live in a society of more, more, more for me, me, me! "Me" comes first, and we must have money to make "me" more comfortable; to make life easier. So people turn to gambling, even on scratchies and lotto, in the hope they will get that big win! They look to the "stars" for answers in predictions of wealth. These are all our "rainbows" in life. We all search these things for that one "pot of gold"....that will help make us happier and more comfortable. But does it happen? Do we find it? Many think they do....until it one day falls apart. Nothing lasts forever. Except the promises of God. One of God's biggest and most awesome promises is the rainbow. After the flood that Noah built the ark for all those years ago, back in the book of Genesis, a rainbow filled the sky....a promise from God that He will never send such a flood again to destroy the earth. It is a promise that He loves us. And in the colours of that rainbow, we find His promise....not of material wealth or treasurs, but of His love. And that is the pot of gold to be found....but no one ever finds it, because it is not what they were looking for....it is something they can't see. Proverbs 27:24a says, "For riches do not endure forever". But God and His love does. At the end of the rainbow we will find God's treasures, not those of the world, like money and possessions, but God. HE endures forever." |
