Crashing waves surround me
reflections of despair
Immersed beneath the surface
into adversity's lair ~
Once a place of harmony
there's nothing here but pain
Drowning in aspersion
as fingers point the blame.

Opinionated reproachment
delivered by the hand
That drowns me now in contempt
I no longer understand ~
Emotions now a deluge
grieving iniquities
As I try to find the surface
beneath the surging sea.

Swallowed by the waters
reaching for the shore
Eternally affronted,
and just what is it for?
The price I pay for having
a different point of view
As I yearn for resolution
within these depths of truth.

Engulfed within the thunderous tide
that pulls me deep within
Beneath the surface that surmounts
the despair that I'm now in ~
The shallow depths that overwhelm
as thoughts inflict my mind
How can I swim to solid ground
when there seems there's none to find?

Drowning in the waters
amidst the sea of blame
Illusions that have become a part
of reality and pain ~
Crashing waves engulf my soul
filled with intensity
As I'm inundated with untruth,
I've no more energy.

The eternal hope of my heart
could see beyond the pain
Past the anger and the hurt
that pointed out in blame ~
But it seems no longer sacred
the tide has come crashing in
Destroying whatever had been left
and whatever state it was in.

Still immersed within the waters
amidst my sea of pain
Heartache still abounds me
flooding my soul again ~
Such despair fills my heart
engulfed eternally
As I swim these raging waters
knowing the truth shall set me free.

"Reflecting on a tumultuous time in my own life, this is a poem to which many others can relate also.   When we feel overwhelmed by trials, hardships, heartache and pain, we can't seem to get a handle on things....we can't seem to see beyond what we are feeling now.   We feel as if we are drowning in a sea of whatever it is we are experiencing at the time.   It can seem so unfair, so unjust, but life does go on....whether we feel as if we are in an emotional rut or drowning in despair.   Yet despite this, we do grow, we do move on, and we do find our feet.   Although we may feel we cannot swim the raging sea, we do.   God has His hand on our lives, as we make our own choices, He knows where we are going and what we are going to do.   The pain we endure now will not last forever.   Although it seems as though it is eternal, we will survive.   And though we feel we are engulfed eternally, we know one thing ~ that is is the truth that sets us free!   And that is the one thing that lasts eternally....truth.   It can't be whitewashed or coloured.   Truth is truth, and it will set us free....eternally."
