"This poem is about the refreshing sustenance God gives to us through His Word and His everlasting love for us. We draw on this strength through reading His Word, spending time in communion and devotion with Him, talking with Him (prayer), fellowship and encouragement with other Christians and the knowledge of His undying love for us. Nothing is as great as His love for us. Nothing is as true or as unbreakable as His Word. Nothing can change that ~ ever. The depth of His love and grace for us is something man cannot fathom on His own. This poem reflects the beauty and the renewal of the soul through feeding on God's Word, the unchanging truth of the Bible. The grapes are a metaphor of the sweetness of life through His love abundant, through His gift, His strength. The Word is food for our souls; its words offering the nourishment and sustenance we need for daily life. Food for our thirsty souls. The Word is the fruit of the vine. Fruit is energy for our bodies in the same way the "fruit of the vine" is energy for our souls, hearts and minds. It helps sustain us through the tough times, through times when we need to feel God's presence. We need to keep feeding from this fruit every day to maintain that strength and sustenance. We need to keep drinking from the cup of life till it overflows. We need to keep drawing on God's strength because we can't do it on our own ~ we were never meant to. God offers us the food for our souls in all its sweetness....we only have to take it....and our lives will be refreshed. We only have to draw on Him, and He will carry us. We only have to ask, and we shall receive. Immerse yourselves within the "fruit", that you may replenish your souls with His word ~ the food for the soul."
