Reflections of wonder
where beauty begins
Touching the heart
and my soul within ~
Feeling the echoes
traced in the breeze
Whisper the secrets
I long to see.

Embracing a vision
that is but a dream
Mirrored by crystal
cascades of the stream ~
Haunted by shadows
lone in the mind
That tear at the heart
and rob the soul blind.

A stillness surrounding
its silence now broken
By the echo of words
still left unspoken ~
Peaceful reflections
torn from within
A mirror of whispers
that scream in the wind.

Once tranquil in splendour
now heartache and pain
Robbed of the illusion
that used to remain ~
Destroying the walls
surrounding the heart
As my place of reflection
is now torn apart.

Invasion and onslaught
attack of the mind
Violated by thoughts
and images unkind ~
With nowhere to run
and nowhere to go
I'm left with the heartache
I don't want to know.

What happened here
to invade my space;
To rock the illusion
of my sacred place?
This is my reflection
made just for me,
Why intrude on the pages
and heart of my dream?

Some things could never
now be the same
For when I think of reflection
I'll remember this pain ~
That ripped through the soul,
the heart and the mind
To haunt me forever
though I'll never know why.

This was my splendour
in this heart of me
A place of reflection
where I found some peace ~
Mirrored in crystal
cascdes of the stream,
For the place I found comfort
'twas all but a dream.

"This is a deep poem about the mind, and reflections therein.   We all have a place where we escape to in our minds to relax....but what happens when something threatens that tranquility?   Where do we go then?   What do we do?   Suddenly we seem inundated by heartache, pain and problems that we can see no way out!   No longer is there a place we can relax ~ it is gone.   The peacefulness we once knew has disappeared and we fight to keep our sanity.   And we begin to question....was it all just a dream?"
