NO MORE YAHOO! BANNERS - WITHOUT USING SOFTWARE!

After working hard to update this site and adding an iframe to open my poetry in the little window on the front page, I was disappointed to see the Yahoo! banner loading right along with it, which ruined the whole atmosphere of my frame!

Easy FIX and Directions:

Go to; C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc
There you will see the HOSTS file. If you see that file but there's an extension, then copy the file and put it in a safe folder. Rename your original HOSTS file by highlighting the file, right click, select Rename, just remove everything but HOSTS. If your HOSTS file has any extensions at all, it won't block ads. I spent many hours trying to get the ads blocked but it wouldn't work because my HOSTS file had an extension that read, HOSTS.HFR, so I removed, the .HFR then loaded my yahoo homepage and whala! NO Yahoo banner or any ads what so ever!!!! You can edit your HOSTS file any time to remove an entry or add an entry. My main purpose was to prevent the banners from loading in my iframe.

Now; Open your HOSTS file in Notepad. There you will see...
127.0.0.1 localhost
Copy and paste these just like you see here; paste them just under your localhost

# Block Yahoo
127.0.0.1 themis.geocities.yahoo.com
127.0.0.1 us.yimg.com
127.0.0.1 us.a1.yimg.com
127.0.0.1 us.i1.yimg.com
127.0.0.1 us.oocities.com

Then save and exit your HOSTS file.

Now that you have finished all of this you can reload my page with NO banners or ads!!!! You do have to close all browsers before it will work.
If you have any questions or comments please use the Guestbook! Enjoy Yahoo! bannerless websurfing!!! Yea!!!!
