When you were near, I could pretend.
Think only of the beginning, and not the end.
But that's all changed and so am I.
I live and breathe ,someday's I cry.
The ocean breaks against the sand.
The waves are rough against my wedding band.
The shine is gone, the bands worn thin,
But the salt from the ocean will shine it again.

The rough salt from the ocean,
can shine it till it glows.
It can make it look brand new again,
with its mighty flow.
Perhaps one day a mightly wave,
will wash it to the shore.
And someone will pick it up
and see its glow once more.

A tiny band of gold,
that meant so very much.
Given on my wedding day,
worn with so much trust.
Thrown into the water,
to sink upon the sand.
Taking with it all your love,
gone my precious man.

I hope the one that finds it,
will hold it to their heart.
And somehow feel the love it held,
even in the dark.
Nothing can destroy it,
not waves or time or sand.
The wedding band you gave to me
to wear upon my hand.
