She Knew A woman growing large with child and finally told there would be two; nodding happily she smiled. In her heart somehow she knew. Her home was full and busy; a waiting schoolbus, a lost shoe. She calmly took it all in stride. Reward would come in time she knew. Wanting to play hookey... said I was sick, which wasn't true. She handed me my books and lunch; not fooled at all, she knew. Trying to make a recipe that failed no matter what I'd do; I called her up for her advice, for if anyone, she knew. Too soon, too young, too quickly her soul with angels flew In peace she slept, no troubled thoughts; her journey's end she knew. My mother was my pillar; the influence from which I drew. If I could hope for anything, I pray, Oh Lord, she knew. 05/25/00 |
