| ~ Broken Crib ~ Sadness rocks in the chair, humming, invisible, muted. It is finished, tubes absent, womb empty. Anxious to nourish, she drew milk. The babe, delivered and swaddled ~ a promise undelivered ~ bottle fed. The breast denied, bruised, swollen, unsuckled. Only a vessel, another victim. Two unmatched creatures, the child and her surrogate mother. |
