Break The Glass is my latest spoken word CD project, and it promises to be my best effort yet. Due to be released in Spring 2008, Break the Glass features my unique brand of feminist spoken word and includes over 15 tracks of songs, rants, raps, and love poems.

Break the Glass features a few musical pieces, including “War” with music by independent musician Sonia Tetlow and “Mama Got Da Blues” with music by co-producer Ross Falzone. Also, in the works is another musical collaboration with experimental musician and composer, Linda Kernohan who will be putting music to "Sunday Burial” and “If Spring Were a Lover.”

Putting my poems to music is a whole new, creative process for me. I’m beginning to realize that I love hearing my poems and rants evolve with the music and become entirely new and different pieces. With music collaboration, the pieces take on a life of their own.

My collaboration with my co-producer Ross Falzone is an inspiration in this process of recording and creating a CD. Ross is a multi-talented musician and songwriter and impressively handy in the studio. Our collaboration steps up the quality of audio projects I’m able to produce; so, Break the Glass will have the professional sound quality that I’ve been wanting for my spoken word.

A full-length CD, Break the Glass provides me with an opportunity to share the breadth of my work—the diversity of its styles and the broad range of its themes—with my audiences. Featuring several of my most popular poems, such as “Sistah,” “Ami Mattison is the ‘N’ Word,” “Unspoken Word,” “Stop Holdin’ Hands,” and “The Crapitalist,” Break the Glass also includes newer and not often performed pieces, such as “Suicide Dream,” “Insomniac Night,” “To bind my chest or to wear a bra,” and “Anti-love Poem.”

Break the Glass is a homegrown, grassroots production. It will be funded entirely by me, my friends, my family, and my supporters. In order to continue the production of this CD, I need additional funds for mixing, pressing, duplicating, and packaging.

Please consider becoming a patron of Break the Glass by donating funds to the project. Those who donate will receive my loyal gratitude and will be named as patrons in the liner notes of the CD.

I’m proud of what I’ve accomplished thus far in the process, and I’m eager to share the final project with my audiences.
