Santa Verna
Stratified pottery has revealed that the first use of this area goes back to the Ghar
Dalam phase (5200 - 4500 BC). It is however to the ensuing period that the main
remains belong. Three horizontal upright megaliths bounded at their eastern end by
three horizontal megaliths are all that one can see today of a trefoil megalithic
temple.
Unusual was the occurence of cobble wall found all around the temple, perhaps an
architectural mainifestation of the 'sacredness' of the ground immediately
surrounding the megalithic remains. On site a number of very fine
flint scrapers and knives were found. Also of note is the discovery of
the remains of a burial of unknown date that was found on the temple period
deposits.
