Nintendo has finally announced the release of Pokemon Emerald - the complementary version of Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire. The game is likely to star Rayquaza as its main legendary Pokemon judging from the box art. Pokemon Emerald will see a Japanese release on the 16th of September this year, a week after the North American release of Pokemon Fire Red and Leaf Green
As with other previous special version (see Pokemon Yellow and Pokemon Crystal), Pokemon Emerald contains a few additional features. One of them is modified storyline. In one of the screenshot, we could see an epic battle between Groudon and Kyogre, the star of Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire respectively.

The game will also introduce a new area called battle frontier. In this area, there are 7 types of places you can go to. The details of these places are unknown at this moment. In addition to that, Pokemon Emerald will also features pre-battle Pokemon animation - a feature which could be found in Pokemon Crystal.
