This is Sheriff Mike in a marijuanna patch that was located and destroyed. The Sheriff's Office works hard every year to find and destroy these patches before the drugs get on the street...

In 1996,Sheriff Mike purchased Coca,(right) a drug detection dog to assist in his campaign against drugs. Since that time Coca has managed to help take a large amount of illegal drugs off the street. Along with her Handler Eddie Price,(left) and her former handler/Deputy, Jim Morrell,disability retired now..Coca is also used in the county schools as a deterant to keep drugs from being brought to the schools............

Sheriff Mike says, Probably the worst drug we have in Polk County,(and maybe the entire united states) would be Methamphetamine, and the most used is marijuana. Mike also thinks the best way to help keep kids off of drugs is, The direct involvement of  parents in their kids lives. Know what your kids are doing,with who and where. Talk with your kids and don't ignore them.
