Pet Memorials

Noel

I recieved Noel from Santa when I was nine years old. I loved him from the start. His fluffy coat was grey at the tips with white at the base. Just between his ears was the softest patch of white fluff. I would sit in our dining room with his at night, watching him jump around. Later, when he moved to my bedroom, I would fall asleep to his munching. When he got a little older, I would take him outside and put him in a box to play, or take him out on a harness. I remember doing my home work outside and having him jumping around me on the leash. I would bring also him into the play room in a little wire enclosure, so my (then) baby sister could pet him. He was loved by the whole family-even the cats. When I first got Noel we had a ten-year old cat named Sammy. I don't remeber Sammy and him being best of friends, but they didn't hate each other. Our beloved Sammy cat had to be put down though, and after my sister got another cat, Missy would come it and sit by Noel's cage. Noel was everything I could ask for ; he was cute, friendly, playful and had a huge heart!
On the dreadful day, I came home from after school choir to see my mom and sisters in my room staying with Noel, who had collapsed. He was breating hard and it appeared as if he couldn't get up. Our vet was colsed, but my mom had called another vet and we were waiting for my Dad to come home from work to take us. I remeber it being hard because if he was dieing, I wanted to hold him, to confort him, but if he wasn't I didn't want to make his pain greater or more severe. About 15 minutes or so after I got home, my little Noel stopped breathing. We will never know what caused his death, but the vet guessed it had something to do with the dust left over by his hay. The night he died, my sister's cat came in to the room to see her rabbit, she searched the whole room, sniffing in the corner his cage was in, searching to the far corner. I don't know if she ever figured out what happened to Noel, or if she remembers him, but I know that Missy and Noel were friends and that Noel was greatful for her company. Noel was the first pet I owned my self, and I thank him for everything he gave me; fun, excitment and a friend. He was, and still is, the best bunny ever!
