THE PEARL AND THE DIAMOND

Story by Erich Reinhardt

Scene 1

ISLAND BY SHORE, NIGHT

SFX: Nightly creatures (grasshoppers, birds, etc.)

ZOOM on DOME.

MUSIC: Mystic overture

CUT TO: DOME

A seal shaped silhouette steps out of the DOME, walks to the shore of an ocean nearby. CUT TO full scene (DOME to shore). The seal shaped shadow throws a bottle in the ocean, and the bottle drifts away.

CUT TO opening credits, mystic overture continues.

Scene 2

FADE IN from black.

SHORE, DAY

FADE IN inside the dome. Sean Seal is sleeping in a bed.

SFX: snoring

Suddenly, an alarm clock wakes him up.

SFX: Alarm clock bell

Sean opens his eyes, feeling drowsy, yawns, gets out of bed, and goes outside. CUT TO outside of dome.

SEAN: (breathing deeply) Ah! What a lovely day on the shore.

CUT TO end of shore to water. The bottle appears and lays flat in the water. CUT TO outside of dome.

SFX: Water waves

PAN on Sean. Sean is walking to the shore, and discovers the bottle. Inside is a note and a pearl which goes around a neck.

SEAN: Huh? (Leans to the edge of the shore) What’s this? (Picks up the bottle, opens it up, and tips it upside down. Falling from the bottle is a note and a pearl necklace. Sean picks up the note, and reads it. CUT TO Sean. The note says:

“To whom it may concern,

I have been ordered by the Seal king to retrieve a mysterious diamond from the Mystic Cave of Turanda. I will need some assistance to find this diamond and bring it to the Seal king for a grand reward. I need someone brave, trustworthy, and honorable. If you are the seal, please report to me at once. Pearl Pup. P.S., please take this pearl necklace and put it around you. You will need it along the way.”

Sean puts the pearl around his neck.

SEAN: (amazed) Well, it does fit me perfectly. Hmm. Brave, trustworthy, and honorable…. Ah! I’ll do it. I’ve got courage, strength, honor, bravery, and trust. Now, where exactly does this pup live?

Sean walks along the island. FADE TO walkways (where Sean walks).

SEAN: Hmm, I don’t seem to find the place. I don’t even know what she looks like.

Sean keeps walking. A gray girl seal with that same pearl necklace that Sean is wearing, pops up in front of Sean. Sean bumps into her.

SEAN: Oh! (Smiles nervously)

CUT TO close up of girl seal.

GIRL: Hello!

SEAN: (nervously) Hello! (Waving nervously) Wh, wh, wh, who are you?

GIRL: I’m Pearl Pup. Who are you?

SEAN: Me, my name’s Sean. (Giggles)

PEARL: (Nervously) Well, it’s a pleasure to meet you, Sean.

SEAN: (Chuckles nervously) Thanks. Say, are you the Pearl Pup who was looking for somebody to help you find some diamond.

PEARL: Why yes, of course! If I never told you I was Pearl Pup, than the diamond wouldn’t be what I was ordered to find and bring back. (Chuckles)

SEAN: Well, if you are looking for that someone, then I guess I’m your man!

PEARL: Well, what are we waiting for? Let’s go! (Grabs Sean by the hand)

FADE TO Sean and Pearl.

Sean and Pearl are chatting about interests, etc. and walking alongside.

SEAN: You know, I was once an adventurous seal like you. I’d always discover new things, and go for a swim in the sea. Why, sometimes I’d call myself Seanan the Barbarian Seal.

PEARL: (giggling) It’s so great to have someone courageous enough to go on this exciting adventure with me that I am about to undertake. Why, before I met you, I had a crush on one of my old high school’s bad boys. But I never took anything from that creep after we had broke up several years ago.

SEAN: Humph! You must have had hard times in your life.

PEARL: Oh yes! Many times.

Sean and Pearl come up to the edge of a shore. CUT TO water, with the other side of the island far away. CUT TO Sean and Pearl.

SEAN: (surprised) Whoa! How are we supposed to get to the other side of the island with our pearls?

PEARL: Oh! You don’t need to take off your pearl in order to get to the other side. It’s magic powers can bust open walls and passages, give you air when underwater, and lighten dark caves.

SEAN: Hey! I’m beginning to get the hang of this thing (grabs the pearl with his forefingers, and rubs it)

PEARL: Well come on jump in. We’d better get going.

MUSIC: “Aquarium” from “Carnival of the Animals” by Camille Saint-Saëns.

CUT TO underwater. Sean and Pearl jump in the water. CUT TO white fox. While swimming, they see a white fox swimming underwater, and she begins drowning. CUT TO Sean and Pearl. Quickly noticing, Sean grabs Pearl by the hand, and points to the drowning fox. They swim over to her (CUT TO white fox), and Sean grabs the fox by the hand, and swims out of the water. They notice they are at the other side of the island. Sean and Pearl get out of the water, with Sean pulling the white fox out of the water. The white fox pants, and thanks the seals for saving her life.

CUT TO shore.

WHITE FOX: (panting) Gee, thanks for saving my life. I almost died in there.

SEAN: Well, you’re fine now on land.

WHITE FOX: Oh good. (Shakes water out of her, and squeezes water out of her tail)

SEAN: Wow! You’re looking lovely. Might I inquire you to introduce yourself to me?

WHITE FOX: (nervously) Well, my name is Whitney, Whitney the White Fox.

SEAN: Nice to meet you, Whitney.

WHITNEY: Thank you. It’s nice to be around a couple of friendly seals. All of the other seals on this side of the island would always gossip about me, usually bad gossip. Anyway, what are you doing over here?

PEARL: Well, you see Whitney; I was ordered by the Seal king to retrieve a mysterious diamond from the caves of Turando. If I ever find this diamond, I must return it to the king at once for a grand reward.

WHITNEY: Ooh, I see what you mean. I have heard about this diamond before. I was going to look for it myself, but never seem to find it in those caves, since it is very valuable and very rare. It’s kind of spooky down there. I can tell you that!

PEARL: Ah! Don’t worry about that. With this pearl around my neck, we can be able to find that diamond with no trouble at all, I hope.

WHITNEY: Well, I am sure going to need a helping hand.

SEAN: Welcome aboard!

WHITNEY: Oh, thank you. You are going to be a great help.

SEAN: This is only the beginning. Starting early tomorrow, we are going to track down the diamond, and return it to the king promptly. You’d better be getting plenty of sleep tonight, because if you want a helping hand, you need to meet us on time pronto.

WHITNEY: Oh I will! I’ll see you in the morning. Good-bye!

SEAN: Remember, early tomorrow, or we find it without you! Come on Pearl; let’s get some sleep.

FADE TO black.

Scene 3

ISLAND, SUNRISE

Sean and Pearl wake up from their long sleep, rub their eyes, and get ready to go on the adventure.

SEAN: (worried) Huh? Where’s Whitney? She should be here by now.

PEARL: (worried) Do you suppose she went on her own to find the diamond?

SEAN: I shouldn’t think so. She said she’d be here by the early morning.

PEARL: Boy, how time flies!

Whitney is running to Sean and Pearl, panting.

WHITNEY: (panting) Hi! Are we ready?

SEAN: You’re late!

WHITNEY: (panting) Oh, sorry! I never realized I was going on such an adventure until now.

SEAN: Humph, you must have Alzheimer’s.

WHITNEY: No, it’s not that. I was only 5 minutes late that’s all.

SEAN: Actually, it was 10 minutes.

WHITNEY: Oh, pardon me.

PEARL: Come on. Let’s get going. We’re wasting valuable time.

SEAN: All right! Whitney, follow me. (Sean, Pearl, and Whitney walk off set)

FADE TO shore.

Sean, Pearl, and Whitney arrive at the shore.

SFX: water rising

SEAN: Well, here we are. Jump in.

WHITNEY: But I can’t swim.

PEARL: No need to worry about that. These pearls around our necks can create an unlimited air level, which helps us breathe underwater. Its magic powers can do anything!

WHITNEY: Thanks for reminding me.

SEAN: Just grab my hand along the way.

WHITNEY: Thank you so much. I do appreciate your help so far.

SEAN: No problem. Now come on, jump in!

Whitney takes Sean’s hand, and all three jump in the water.

CUT TO underwater.

Sean, Pearl, and Whitney are swimming, with Sean holding Whitney’s hand. A classical aquatic piano piece plays during the swim (“Aquarium” from Camille Saint-Saëns’ “Carnival of the Animals”). While swimming, the pearl on Sean’s neck (CUT TO close up of pearl on neck) lightens up and gives Whitney air. Whitney’s eyes are closed, and as soon as the light reflecting from the pearl hits her nose, her eyes start to open up, but slowly. The threesome continues swimming, until they see a shark. They all become very panicked and horrified. They then start swimming very fast and soon enough reach their destination, the Mystic Caves of Turando.

CUT TO shore of cave.

The threesome comes out of the water, Sean first, then Pearl, then Whitney having to be pulled by Sean. They all start to pant.

SEAN: (panting) Phew! That was a close one.

PEARL: (panting) No kidding! Didn’t you realize that shark almost killed us?

SEAN: (surprised) Outrageous! I’ve got courage. I was only scared for a few seconds.

WHITNEY: Well, you may be the brave one out of all three of us. Me, I’m just an ole coward.

SEAN: You’re no coward, Whitney! Believe in yourself. When I started out like this, I was always scared. It just takes years to get over it. That shark would never kill us. He’s just playing around.

PEARL: (Stuttering) P-p-p-playing around? What are you talking about?

SEAN: I’m used to these things. That shark chases me all the time for fun. It just goes to show you what it would be like if you were really in trouble by a shark.

PEARL: And I almost lost myself.

SEAN: Ha! You wish! Now, back to diamond searching.

WHITNEY: Right on, seal! Let’s get going.

The threesome is walking. PAN on Sean, Pearl, and Whitney. Whitney soon notices a deep downward slope. She steps afoot, and starts slipping.

WHITNEY: (slightly panicked) What the…No, this can’t be happening! (Becomes scared, and starts falling downward stomach down) EEEYYAAAHHH!

Pearl is at the edge of the slope, watching Whitney slide.

PEARL: Hmph! The fox is right, there is a downward slope here. (Continues walking, and starts sliding down like she is surfing, she then becomes slightly worried)

Sean walks to the slope, whistling, eyes closed, then slips down the slope, stomach up.

SEAN: Whooooooaaaaaaa! Why didn’t someone tell me about this? (Turns back, stomach down)

The falling then becomes a race. CUT TO slope. Whitney is in first place, and then comes Pearl. Sean zooms slowly down past them. The slope then comes to a stop with Sean being the first one to fall down (CUT TO end slope). Whitney whoops off, and then lands on Sean.

SEAN: Oof! (Frowns and looks at Whitney as if he were mad at her)

Pearl slides down, stomach down, and pants. Voices start echoing.

PEARL: Phew! That was a long ride.

SEAN: Sure was. It was actually fun, even though I was scared.

WHITNEY: We were all scared! Oh! (Teeth shatter) I have a bad feeling that it’s kind of spooky down here.

PEARL: No worries! The pearls around Sean’s neck and mine make great lights when in dark places. (All start walking, PAN on Sean, Pearl, and Whitney)

WHITNEY: Oh! Thank goodness. I feel so scared and alone in the dark.

SEAN: You mean you are afraid of the dark.

WHITNEY: Yes! Thanks for correcting me.

SEAN: The diamond’s got to be here somewhere.

A swarm of bats fly out of the light very quickly when Sean uses his pearl as a flashlight. Whitney becomes scared.

WHITNEY: This is just too scary!

SEAN: Ah come on Whitney! Don’t be such a crybaby! You wanted to come on this adventure, so deal with it.

WHITNEY: But, I haven’t been in a cave before.

SEAN: So, this is your first time in a cave, huh?

WHITNEY: Why, yes!

SEAN: Well, this is also Pearl’s first time in a cave. She’s hardly scared at all! Just take my advice. Lots of people are scared when it’s their first time, but in time, they become used to it, which is what you should do. It is very simple, my friend. Try it!

WHITNEY: You know! You could save a person from fainting with that advice.

SEAN: Why thank you, my dear fox.

WHITNEY: Okay! Don’t get all love talk-ish. I hardly know you since you saved me from drowning.

SEAN: Oh yeah, the drowning! I remember that!

PEARL: All right you guys! Either stick to the mission, or I will find the diamond myself if it kills me!

WHITNEY: Could you talk a little quieter? You’re scaring me with the echoes in the caves.

PEARL: (roars loudly and scarily like a monster)

WHITNEY: (screams panicked)

PEARL: (chuckling) You are really frightened of echoes, aren’t you!

WHITNEY: Y-y-y-y-y-y-y-yes! You scared me with that monstrous noise. Don’t ever do that again!

PEARL: (hysterically) Oh sorry!

CUT TO Sean.

SEAN: Hey look! (Points his pearl up, and points his finger up)

CUT TO and PAN UP on light hole, glaring.

All gasp in surprise.

PEARL: (surprised) Wow! What is it?

SEAN: An escape hole!

WHITNEY: Is that really an escape hole, or is it painted to make it look like a hole of light?

SEAN: No, I’m not lying! It is really an escape hole.

PEARL: Oh, really! Then how do we get out?

SEAN: I wouldn’t be too sure. (Sean puts his thumb on his chin and rubs it, like he is thinking) Ah! I’ve got it! Pearl, do you know any secret powers of how to reach high places with the pearl?

PEARL: Well, I’ve worn this pearl around my neck almost all of my life, ever since I was just a tiny pup, so I may not remember. Wait a minute; it’s all coming back to me now. I can picture the vision completely.

Pearl closes her eyes, the pearl lights up, and zaps the light hole. CUT TO light hole. The pearl strikes the light hole, and the hole gets brighter. Then, the light blinds Sean and Whitney. They cover their eyes with their arms. A flash of light occurs during the blinding. Within three seconds, the light becomes a tornado. Heavy winds are blowing in the cave, and rocks fall from the cave ceilings. Pearl then walks in the tornado, and is transported on top of the cave.

SFX: loud whirls, strong winds, and falling rocks

PEARL: Well, come on guys! Hop in the tornado.

SEAN: (calling out, does not cup his hands over his mouth) You’re going have to speak up! The whirls are loud and are almost inaudible for us to hear you!

PEARL: (calling out) I said hop in the tornado.

SEAN: What?

PEARL: JUST JUMP IN THE TORNADO!

SEAN: OKAY! THANK YOU! Now, Whitney, are you ready for this?

WHITNEY: (worried) Sean, I don’t know if I should do this.

SEAN: Come on! It shouldn’t be that bad. Just take my hand. It is proven to be safe.

WHITNEY: All right! I guess I’ll try it.

SEAN: Good! Take my hand! (Whitney grabs Sean’s hand) Are you ready? Here we go!

Sean and Whitney step afoot in the light tornado. Once in, they twirl around like they are in a real tornado. Sean and Whitney become very scared, and hold their arms around each other. CUT TO top of the cave. Once they come out, they bump into Pearl brakeless, and finally stop at the edge of a cliff. Pearl falls off the cliff, not literally, of course, but her hand is held on to the edge of the cliff. She then becomes very scared.

PEARL: (panicking) Heeeeeeeeelp! Sean! I’m going to fall!

SEAN: (gasps) Pearl’s in trouble! Whitney, quick give me a hand! We gotta pull her up, or she’s a goner!

PEARL: (panicking) Hurry! (Finger slips, she becomes very scared, and her teeth shatter)

Sean then becomes panicked, and afraid that he might lose his “sweetheart”. With a heavy heart, he runs over to the cliff, along with Whitney, and grasps Pearl’s hand. Pearl’s hand slips, and falls, which almost kills her. Sean then becomes worried that Pearl might die.

CUT TO Pearl, falling.

PEARL: (screaming horrendously) Oh no! Good-bye Sean!

SEAN: (screaming) Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!

PEARL: Wait! There is a way I can save my own life! (Snaps her finger) Aha! The vision!

Pearl closes her eyes. The pearl lights up, and lights Pearl like a shield. She is then stopped. Very slowly, she is then brought back up to safety. Sean and Whitney back up at the top of the cliff become very amazed, and gasp in excitement. They see Pearl rise back up to the top of the cliff. Pearl then arrives at the top of the cliff, and becomes normal again.

SEAN & WHITNEY: Phew!

PEARL: Oh! Thank goodness. I nearly died from that fall!

SEAN: You had us shocked!

PEARL: That too! Thank goodness I have this magic pearl. Without it, I’d be gone down that cliff within seconds.

SEAN: Right! You’re back with us now! Welcome back!

PEARL: Oh, you don’t need to welcome me back here. I went with you guys all along.

WHITNEY: Okay, okay! Time out! Don’t you realize we have a diamond to find?

PEARL: Oh yes! Thank you Whitney! Let’s get going.

SEAN: Yes! Let’s!

The threesome walks off camera.

Scene 4

FADE TO ON TOP OF THE TURANDO CAVE, ZOOM OUT

The threesome is walking, still trying to find the diamond. They are walking like they are in a desert. They all become tired and hungry.

CUT TO Sean

SEAN: (panting, with tongue sticking out) It’s taking forever! Are we ever going to get there? I feel I got to faint! (Falls to the ground)

PEARL: Oh! Crack up Sean! We’ve still got a long ways to go. (Beats Sean with a stick, Sean is still laying on the ground, Pearl becomes worried) Sean! Sean! Hello! (Gasp) He must have fainted. (Beats Sean with a stick) Sean! Please wake up. I know you’re still here.

SEAN: (opens his eyes, and they become cracked, his tongue sticks out, and lifts his head) Auntie Em? Is that you? (Eyes close back up, and his head falls back)

PEARL: (gasp) Oh no! He’s paralyzed! Whitney, you are going to have to carry him. (Whitney faints, and falls to the ground)

Pearl runs over to Whitney.

PEARL: Oh no, Whitney! Not you too!

CUT TO zoom out of cave. A small puddle of water stands in the shot. Pearl discovers it, walks over to it.

PEARL: Aha! (Snaps her finger) This oughta do it! (Grabs a handful, and squeezes some on Sean. Sean wakes up, vaguely remembering what had happened earlier during the adventure.)

SEAN: (half tired) Wha, what happened? Where am I? What’s going on around here?

PEARL: Sean? Are you all right?

SEAN: Ooh! My head! What’s Whitney doing tired? Shouldn’t she be helping us find the diamond?

PEARL: Whitney’s just fainted because of the long walk, which is what you were just doing.

SEAN: Well, how are we supposed to wake her up?

PEARL: Simple. Just squirt some water on her. Or if you are not that type of seal, use your pearl.

SEAN: Well, I haven’t been able to use this thingamajig on my neck. How does it work?

PEARL: Well, you see, first you have to close your eyes, and picture the action in your head, as you would see it right now. Then the pearl’s magic power will heal Whitney within seconds.

SEAN: But what do I have to picture?

PEARL: Um, picture that someone is, uh, in a desert.

SEAN: Yeah!

PEARL: And then, you see someone walking in the heat, and all of a sudden, they faint.

SEAN: Okay!

PEARL: And then, the pearl will light up, and strike Whitney like a lightning bolt, and by then she should be alive and “pumped up” as I would say it. (Chuckles nervously)

SEAN: All right! I’ll try it. Hope this works. Here we go now.

Sean closes his eyes. His pearl lights up. The pearl strikes Whitney like a lightning bolt. Whitney shrieks. Whitney wakes up, shaking her head, and feeling confused.

WHITNEY: Oh! What happened? Where is everybody?

SEAN: Right here with you, Whitney. You almost died fainting.

WHITNEY: No! Just paralyzed.

SEAN: Funny to say! I was paralyzed, too when I had fainted from my tire. You’re back with us, now, nothing to worry about.

WHITNEY: Thank goodness I’m alive!

SEAN: Well, of course you’re alive. You can’t just die if you fainted. It’s happened to me, and I didn’t die. All I needed was a squirt of water.

WHITNEY: But you used your pearl to wake me up.

SEAN: That’s because I was afraid water wouldn’t wake you up. Now come on, we gotta find that diamond.

PEARL: Sean’s right! We’d better hurry.

The threesome walks forward up off camera. PAN on Sean, Pearl, and Whitney.

FADE TO black.

Scene 5

FADE IN TO Turando Cave.

PAN ON Sean, Pearl, and Whitney, they are walking.

CUT TO silhouette of Vixen. The vixen creeps in the cave, the silhouette disappears, and fades into the Vixen. The Vixen sees three other silhouettes, two seals, and a fox. The vixen becomes very frightened; she thinks she is going to be captured by evil beings.

VIXEN: (panicked) Ah! Stand back. I know what you are going to do! Stand back! Don’t move! (Teeth shatter)

SEAN: Relax! It’s just us. We’re no bad guys.

VIXEN: Oh! You startled me! Phew! And to think I almost lost myself when you came along.

PEARL: It’s all right. We’re friendly seals, and a fox, on a mission.

VIXEN: Oh really! What type of mission?

PEARL: Well, just about a while ago, I had been ordered by the seal king to retrieve a mysterious diamond in these caves, and return it to him promptly for a grand reward.

VIXEN: (surprised) Grand reward? What kind of grand reward.

PEARL: I don’t know, but the most important part is the diamond. That’s for sure.

VIXEN: Oh! Does that mean why you have that pearl around your neck? (Grabs pearl, and rub it with her fingers)

PEARL: Partially, but the pearl is a magic jewel which works by visions.

VIXEN: That does look like a good pearl. May I try it on?

PEARL: I’m afraid not. If I ever take it off, then all of its magic disappears.

VIXEN: Huh! Maybe I should stay away from it, ‘cause you’ll never know what might happen next.

Sean’s pearl lights up suddenly.

SEAN: Hey! What’s going on? Why is my pearl lighting up all of a sudden? And it’s beeping. (Pearl on neck beeps like radio waves.)

PEARL: Why, it must be telling us something. (Pearl on Sean’s neck continuously beeps)

Pearl is murmuring to herself, trying to figure out the message that Sean’s pearl is trying to give them. Surprised, Pearl finally figures out the message.

PEARL: Aha! I think I know what it’s saying now.

All are surprised.

SEAN: Well, pearl expert. What is it saying?

PEARL: Humph! It must be saying that the diamond is somewhere in this cave. It is telling us to go on top of the cave, and when your pearl lights up, and beeps again, that’s where the diamond is.

VIXEN: Are you sure you really know about the language of the pearl?

PEARL: (chuckles) My vixen friend, the pearl has no language. When the pearl lights up and beeps, it’s sending us some sort of ultimatum.

SEAN: Well, I’m starting to get the hang of this pearl. Before, I was wondering why I even had this in the first place.

PEARL: I’m glad you have, Sean.

VIXEN: So, when do you suppose we will even FIND this diamond of yours.

PEARL: I don’t know. Now come on, we must hurry.

All walk off set.

FADE TO top of cave.

PEARL: That diamond’s got to be somewhere in these caves.

VIXEN: (panting and crawling) Could we go any faster? If we go this way (gulp), we’ll never make it! (Falls to the ground, and becomes tired.)

WHITNEY: (walks over to Vixen, and slaps her face) Vixen, wake up. (Drags Vixen up) We don’t have much further to go (gulp), I hope.

VIXEN: (moaning) Carry me! (Whitney picks up Vixen, and carries Vixen around her (Whitney) shoulder.)

PEARL: It won’t be long now. (pearl on neck beeps)

PEARL: What now? (pearl continuously beeps) Yeah. (beeping) Uh huh! (beeping) Okay! (Calling everyone) Guys, we’re just about there. (All become surprised) We’re on top of where the diamond is. Sean, I am going to need some rope.

SEAN: But there is no rope in these deserted areas. (Turns around, and discovers a long rope) Aha!

CUT TO close-up of rope spool.

Sean grabs the spool of rope, and gives it to Pearl.

SEAN: Here you are!

WHITNEY: (Surprised) Wait! What about me? (Drops Vixen) I’ve come for the diamond to!

PEARL: Truly! But only one of us is going to take it.

SEAN: Looks like you’re outta luck Whitney! Pearl is the one who is on this mission.

WHITNEY: (sassy) Well, if Pearl is on this mission, so am I. I didn’t come here for nothing you know.

VIXEN: Looks like it’s going to be a contest for the two of you.

WHITNEY: I guess so, huh?

PEARL: Yep! We’re gonna have to see who gets to the diamond. Sean, tie me around the rope.

Sean grabs the rope, and ties it around Pearl’s waist. Whitney then grabs another long rope, and ties one end around her waist, and the other end to a rock.

WHITNEY: Okay! All set. Start whenever you are ready.

PEARL: All right. Ready, go!

Pearl and Whitney jump on to the edge of the cliff. While Pearl slides down the edge of the cliff, Whitney carefully steps downward, not meaning to let go. All of a sudden, Whitney accidentally lets go of the rope, and falls on her bottom. Both creatures see the diamond, and become surprised. There, they see the sparkling glow of the diamond. Whitney’s eyeballs start to look like diamonds in her eyes.

WHITNEY: (excitedly and crazily) Ohohohohohohohohohooo! The Diamond! It is mine! Oh gimme, gimme, gimme!

Whitney runs crazily and Pearl stops Whitney immediately.

PEARL: (while Whitney is still running) Whitney! Whitney wait! (Whitney stops) You must never rush to the diamond! It is very rare and is my mission. If it is lost, I shall not receive my reward. So we have to be very careful. Now, tiptoe, real carefully.

Whitney and Pearl start tiptoeing, very carefully. Suddenly, Whitney’s feet start to creak.

MUSIC: Careful theme

WHITNEY: (smiling & chuckling) Oops! Sorry!

PEARL: (strict) Never mind! Let’s get going!

Pearl and Whitney creep very slowly. Meanwhile, Sean, back up the cave, is sitting there, bored, whistling to himself.

MUSIC: Mystic piece

The diamond glows. Pearl finally creeps up to it, and carefully takes the diamond. Whitney, looking sly, calls out to Pearl.

WHITNEY: (sly) Um. I don’t think that belongs to you!

PEARL: (panicked) What? Whaaaaaaaat? What do you mean?

WHITNEY: (snickering) Ha ha! Made you look! (Whitney continues snickering.)

PEARL: (sassy) Well! Making me look isn’t going to get you too far for that diamond, Ms. Perfect! Besides, this is not a diamond; it’s a piece of rock. (Rambling) Uh Oh!

Suddenly, the cave starts to ramble and both Pearl and Whitney become panicked. They try and figure out who has the real diamond. Suddenly, a look-alike diamond falls out of Pearl’s back. Pearl sights the look-alike diamond.

PEARL: (shouting) There it is! (Points to diamond.)

MUSIC: Excited theme

Pearl picks up the diamond and slips out of her hand when she picks it up and flies in the air. With the rock in the air, Whitney runs, and tries to catch it, unfortunately, the look-alike diamond falls to the ground, and shatters. Pearl runs to the diamond panicked.

MUSIC: Despair theme

PEARL: (leaning) Oh no! Oh no, no, no! The seal king! What will he say? What will he do?

WHITNEY: But that diamond was a fraud!

PEARL: (sad, picking up the pieces, and dropping them back down on the floor) No, no, it’s not a fraud. Now, I’m really done for. (Sniffles)

WHITNEY: (pulling out diamond) But you see, I have the real diamond.

MUSIC: Victory theme

Pearl sees the diamond in Whitney’s hand, and becomes happy, and all excited. She then takes the diamond, and kisses it while raising it with her two hands. Pearl grabs Whitney’s hand, and runs out of the cave. Sean sees them and then runs away from the falling rocks. The run then becomes a race, starting at the slide, where everyone tries to climb the slide. The rocks continue to fall as each one of the explorers try bravely to rescue themselves out of the cave. Sean finally climbs up top the slide, ties the rope carrying Pearl and Whitney around his waist, and runs away. The poor vixen is still trying to get up the slide, leaving her behind. Suddenly, Sean realizes he forgot about the vixen. Sean runs back, with Whitney and Pearl bumping up and down.

VIXEN: (tired and panicked) Sean! (Pants) Thank goodness you’re here! Get me out of here!

SEAN: Here! Take the rope!

Sean throws a piece of rope down to the vixen, and the vixen grabs hold of the rope. With marvelous strength, Sean pulls the rope, and the vixen is then pulled to safety.

VIXEN: (excited) Gee thanks! How can I ever repay you?

SEAN: I don’t have time for that now; let’s get out of here!

SFX: Falling rocks

WHITNEY: (shouting) Look out! It’s caving in!

MUSIC: Escape theme

All start screaming, and run for their lives as the cave slowly caves in with rock. The vixen on the end of the rope sees a giant boulder behind her and starts running. She almost gets trapped in the boulder and gets crushed. Luckily, she recovers. Whitney and Pearl finally escape from the cave, and leaves Sean and the Vixen behind. Whitney and Pearl begin to untie themselves from the rope when suddenly they hear cries from the cave. Pearl goes the edge of the cave, and sees Sean and the Vixen just about to be crushed.

SEAN: Pearl! Thank goodness you’re safe! Can you get us out of here?

VIXEN: Don’t look back on us Pearl! We need you!

PEARL: That was what I was going to do! Whitney, give me that rope!

Whitney passes the rope to Pearl.

PEARL: Here! Hang on tight!

SEAN: (faces the Vixen) We can do this, together! Grab on!

Sean and the Vixen grab on to the rope. As the boulder reaches the edge of the cliff, the Vixen screams in horror. She thinks that her and Sean are going to die, but luckily Pearl shouts to the two that she’s going to pull the rope.

PEARL: (shouting) Ready? Here we go! (Pulls rope)

With marvelous strength, Pearl and Whitney pull Sean and the Vixen out of the cave and the boulder rolls to the edge of the cliff, and the cave closes forever. Meanwhile, the foursome is running for their lives out of the cave trying to avoid falling rocks and rolling boulders.

FADE TO shore.

MUSIC: Escape theme (continues)

The foursome arrives at the edge of the shore, all dives in, and swim very fast, the diamond tight in Pearl’s arm. The pearls on Sean and Pearl both light up, giving air to Whitney and the Vixen. The shark sees the foursome swimming really fast, and starts chasing after them and trying to catch them with his mouth. The foursome sees the shark, and swim extra fast with their arms working like propellers. Luckily, the foursome arrives at the edge of the shore, and start pulling each other out of the water. They then all pant.

PEARL: (panting) That was great! Now how are we supposed to get to Turando Kingdom?

SEAN: Turando Kingdom. Now let’s see. (Mutters) Hey! (Snaps his fingers) I got it! Follow me! (Grabs Pearl’s hand)

Sean grabs Pearl’s hand, dives in the water going straight up ahead. Whitney and the Vixen both run together shouting “Hey! Wait for us!” and then dive swimming to catch up to Sean and Pearl who are underwater. Whitney and the Vixen are shouting and swimming at Sean and Pearl telling them to catch up. Sean and Pearl realize Whitney and the Vixen trying to catch up to them. Both their pearls light up, and hands coming from the pearls pick both Whitney and the Vixen up, and bring both foxes to safety (Sean and Pearl). The foxes then hold the seals’ hands as they swim along.

FADE TO Turando Kingdom.

SEAL KING: Why, it couldn’t be…I don’t know…I…I…. I don’t believe it! (Grabs diamond from Pearl’s hand, and looks at it) Why, it is the real diamond. Pearl, along with your noble friends, for such service and teamwork, I shall grant thee your reward.

Sean, Pearl, Whitney and the Vixen all become surprised.

PEARL: Really? Oh, thank you sir!

FADE TO outside Turando Kingdom.

A large crowd of people is standing right in front of the kingdom, with the Seal King, Pearl, Sean, Whitney, and the Vixen facing frontward of the kingdom behind them.

SEAL KING: People of Turando, we are gathered here today, with a special announcement. Our noble seal, with the help of her three friends has finally brought the diamond in the lost caves of Turando. (Crowd cheers, victory theme plays) Pearl, you shall now receive your reward. I hereby declare you the Seal princess, and your friends heir to your throne. (Puts princess’ crown on Pearl)
