You may have good ideas, but will they be heard? People judge the written word at face value, and if a document is plagued with spelling errors or even a misplaced comma or two, your ideas may not be taken seriously.
Mistakes in a document often burn bridges between writers and readers, regardless of how important, innovative or informational your message is.
As an English Teacher, I could not stress this fact enough with my students who often had something good to say--but surface mistakes hurt the message.
