The Newsletter for Polyamorous Calgary

Greetings From The Editor

Sorry that this newsletter is late this month. For those of you who don’t frequent the meetings at Words and don’t know, my roommate with a computer just moved out and I had to get a new one Frankensteined. Fortunately, Poly-Cal now has a new AMD K6 II/333 to do web work and newsletter work on!

(Could use a new keyboard though!)

News Flash

Good news for Poly-Cal this month. Loving More has donated several back issues of their magazine for our library. These are full of very informative and well written articles on polyamory. Issue #13 actually has a great article on being “Out & Active” (by Ryam Nearing) in an alternative lovestyle. More later…

Future Expansions

We are considering expanding our reach over the summer and are looking for ideas as to where to drop off flyers and newsletters. If anyone has any ideas, or would like to volunteer to drop off some flyers etc. please e-mail me. Also, this is starting to cost money, more than I can afford to keep up for too long, so if anyone has a few dollars to throw my way for photocopying, or has access to free photocopying, I would be very thankful.

Loving More

“Loving more does not mean F#*king more”

I forget where I first heard that saying, maybe in Loving More, maybe in alt.polyamory but it still works as an affirmation that poly is not just about sex. If someone in your life is hacking on your perspective as a poly, please feel free to refer him or her to almost any article in “Loving More”, a quarterly publication put out by the people at Loving More. They are an international, Poly group. They have recently recognized Poly-Cal and will be listing us in their next issue, summer 2000. (Let’s all get ready for the surge in membership!) Also, Loving More is a great read for anyone who is Poly, polycurious, or just plain curious. There are copies available at Words or from Spikey Mike or Psychic Lisa. The magazine includes Poly Bites, Poly book reviews (Including Radical Honesty), Network Ads, Personals, and a good deal of honest accounts of living a poly lovestyle. Relationship advice is from a poly perspective, but can be applied to just about any relationship. It is recommended highly by just about everyone who has picked one up and read it.

Definition of the Month

Open Relationship: An open relationship is one where two people, or more, agree to a non-exclusivity clause in their otherwise committed relationship.
