Welcome to My Space…

Hey Everybody!
Welcome to my space!!! Yeah! My space, 'coz this is where I get to do all the talking while you listen (okay! read) Ah! for once… he! he! he! and you're the
th
visitor to this page since 25th of June, 2000 already
. You ready for whats to come ???
Well! anyway, if you just happened to surf across to this page you might just be able to find something of interest to you – check out some of the links, if you like, and for those who are looking for something in particular, hopefully trying to know a little bit about me, just scroll on guys and you’ll probably get what you want! - whatever that is …
Okay! So, my name is POOJA which means "a devotional offering" which really has no correlation to the person whatsoever!!!
Nobody ever really calls me that anyway, some call me Katu or Kats (that’s short for my last name), yet others Poojs, Puj or Sweety and the list could perhaps go on with each and everyone of my friends coming up with something different
But anyway, as the name probably gives away I am a citizen of one of the most populous countries in the world "Hindustan" more popularly known as "India" - the land of contrasts as I like to call it.
Born and brought up in the
Capital city of Delhi, I’ve spent most part of my 24 years flitting across locations in this strangely comforting as well as scary city but for a brief span in Mizoram (a state in the north eastern part of the country) and the three years that I spent in Norway - the land of the midnight sun where I completed my Master of Science Degree in International Business at the Norwegian School of Management.
I am currently doing my Ph.D in International Business Management at Monash University, Melbourne, Australia, after having spent a brief period back in India where I worked as a Research Analyst/Researcher, both in the private as well as the public sector. After a flurry of job offers (he! he! he! modesty doesn't count!!!
), I decided to take up the offer to work as a research assistant under Prof. Amrik Sohal (Associate Dean, Research) and Dr. Nicholas Beaumont, at the Department of Management, Monash University, where I also tutor first year undergraduate students in International Business and Management subjects. For those of you who are not familiar with the concept of tutorials or tutes as they are commonly known, a class of 300 or more students is subdivided into classes of 18-20 students each to provide them with a more interactive session than is possible in a lecture with 300 odd students attending. It is compulsory for the students to attend and participate as their overall grade for the subject depends on their participation in the tutorial activities and their performance in the tutorial assignments other than of course the final exam. The intent is to enable a more in depth discussion of the topics covered in the lecture, provide a more objective grading criteria than just exams, and to enhance the research abilities of the students. It's quite an exhilirating and challenging experience and I would suggest, if you get the opportunity, one should certainly go for it. I hope some day, to pursue a full-fledged career as a Researcher or a Consultant or perhaps even teaching (so any prospective employers here? You might want to peruse over my
résumé and my academic output if you like). I am also interested in weeding out corruption and am hoping to be able to do something on that front. Still in the search for ideas on how to weed out corruption and would welcome your suggestions and insights. Please email me
if you'd like to share your thoughts. That’s a short introduction to me but go ahead scroll on and you might just be able to pick some more of my eccentric characteristics and talents ...
Still here huh?
So you wanna get to know me a little bit more, eh? Let’s read on shall we and maybe you could help me figure my self out (well! that’s one hint – I’m as confused as ever).
Born on the first day of July, I am a crab to the core, hard on the exterior and soft and mushy on the inside. Friends and family are what I live for. Check out this link on astrology if you’re interested in Sun Signs and stuff.
Although a water sign, strangely enough I fear deep waters. I do love swimming, diving and water sports though, that’s something I could do for hours at an end. For what its worth my life has always been like a see-saw ride with ups and downs just like the waves, which in fact most of the time, I must admit, are self created. Hey! you can't blame a woman for making her life interesting.
Essentially, I like living, life’s too short to stop and think, so go on and do what you want to do, live it – which is probably why I enjoy travelling so much...
I’m an impulsive person, and I like to experiment – very different from the person I was four years ago and then one fine day I decided that it was about time I let my hair down, don’t you agree? I did and well I’ve enjoyed every moment of my life since then, despite the ups and downs ...
Everything else besides the point, there’s one thing everyone agrees on and that is that I’m a just a bit of everything – I’m weird to say the least, vivacious, funny, witty (well! sometimes), temperamental, moody, lovable and yes impossible, aggressive and bossy too occasionally – try getting on to my wrong side and you’ll know - weird huh! The recent additions to the list are crazy but boy! am I GREAT or what???
Don’t worry, it gets even more confusing
I am a child (even at 24) still exploring life ...
To put it all in a nut - I’m probably the nuttiest thing on the face of the earth or so my friends like to say and the only thing that’s consistent about me is change – I’m never the same they think. Good for me, I guess! Too predictable otherwise, eh? Got to admit, I’ve been spoilt rotten by all my loved ones – I tend to get what I want, when I want it – but I’m humble enough to thank God for it all … I could go on forever but to end for all I know, I am a mystery to myself and I would readily welcome any insights that you might want to add.
There will be more to come soon enough but in the meanwhile join me as I travel down the memory lane ... or through my collection of snaps of people who are important to me or scroll through my academic output if you like (it’s the dry international business stuff, but you just might find something you can use …) or have a rendezvous with a dear friend at Molly’s Home Page. Here’s another one you could check out – I like the way he talks about himself, although it’s a bit clustered with everything. He does have a penchant to talk on and on and on, once you get him started and much as I hate to admit it, I think he does just as good a job of putting his thoughts down on paper as he does of verbalising them. There's another friend, I'd like to introduce you all to but I don't think he's gotten around to creating a website for himself. I suppose he will in time, I just need to be a little pushy ...
There's this incredible link on humour so go on have a look at Humour of Melvin Durai. Now that you're finished with the laughing bit, want a bit of dentistry??? Here's Dr. Ishan D'souza's page on his passion, god help us all!!! - dentistry!!!
. Well, he's a great doctor, so anytime your tooth starts aching or you feel the need for a bit of plastic surgery, you know where to go, right???. Anyway, in case you're the academic types and are looking for links on International Business, you will love these links. Check out
Rajneesh Narula's Home Page. He's a good writer, you might want to go through his essays (and no, they are not on international business or macroeconomics!!!). Gabriel's Web Page has a lot of incredible links - its like THE link on International Business and related sites - its got more or less all the links you'd possibly want. Here's another one, if you're looking for stuff on developing countries Nagesh Kumar at Intech (UNU)
Anyway, do email me with your suggestions
while I think of more to share with you ...
Till then …
Okay, so here's more...
