Pop's Farm Vineyard
Pop's Farm Vineyard began in 2000 as the dream of its owners: P.J. and Sarah Ebelhar. After visiting Napa and Sonoma Valleys in California, we came home with a dream of making our own wine and establishing our own vineyard. A small home winemaking operation was started in 2000, with wine made from bought juice in the varieties of Zinfandel, Gewurztraminer, and Merlot.
In 2001, the first grapes were planted in the test vineyard located on Fitts Road in Daviess County, Kentucky. 20 Cabernet Sauvignon, 20 Traminette, and 20 Pinot Meunier were planted in April 2001.
In 2002, a new vineyard located at 4147 Pleasant Valley Road was started. 2 acres of vines were planted and trellised, with varieties: Cabernet Sauvignon, Gewurztraminer,Chamborcin, Traminette, Leon Millott, Foch, Norton, Reliance, Mars, and Himrod.
In 2002, constuction has started on a small farm winery at the Pleasant Valley Road location. Limited test production is planned for 2003. Return to this site often to follow the progress of this beginning operation!
2003 begins with plants being trained to the trellis and further work on the winery. I am busy collecting equipment for the start-up in addition to all the work in the vineyard.
2004 pruning was completed in April. After a summer of spraying and babying the grapes, I harvested my first crop with limited success, but at least I got enough grapes to sell and enough left over make my own wine!
2005 begins with some winter damage on my Cab Sav, but the other varieties look awesome! I am expecting a big harvest!  Mowing and spraying keeps me busy, but the vineyard is doing great.

The winery is pictured from the hill beyond the pond.
