| LITTLE THEATRE OF VIRGINIA BEACH ## Season: Little Theatre of Virginia Beach. You Can't Take It With You, Is There Life After High School?, The Last Night of Ballyhoo, Camping with Henry and Tom, Waiting in the Wings, Red Herring ## I think their season was the best of all local theaters--they took chances with plays like Red Herring and Camping with Henry and Tom, and more familiar work like Is There Life after High School? and The Last Night of Ballyhoo. Their only miss was Waiting in the Wings, but at least they took a chance on an unfamiliar Noel Coward play. Camping With Henry and Tom (comedy) ## Comedy: Camping With Henry and Tom ## Director: Bob Nelson ## Scenic Design: Bob Nelson ## This was by far the best local production that I have seen all season. Everything meshed--the scenery was professional level and the acting was fantastic. ## Lead Actor: Bill Vaughan as Henry Ford ## I thought he gave one of the best performances that I have seen all season. ## Lead Actor: Fran Peterson as Thomas Edison Is There Life After High School? (musical) ## Actor: Garry Manasco Red Herring (comedy) ## Comedy: Red Herring ## Director: Ricky D'Alonzo ## Ricky is young, but he has proven his work in Summer Shakes. He has definitely stretched his directing muscles with work at LTVB with The Last Night of Ballyhoo and Red Herring. I think Ricky is one to be watched as a director in the local area. ## Supporting Actress: Lauren Rodgers as Lynn McCarthy/Clerk ## The only play I saw outside of ODU was Red Herring, which was directed beautifully by Ricky D'Alonzo. In this play the person who stood out the most was Lauren Rodgers. She was hilarious as the ditsy daughter of Joseph McCarthy. I have seen her perform before but never as well as she did in this role. She was dumb and beautiful and really made us root for her character throughout. ## Supporting Actor: Jim DiMunno as Andrei Borchevsky and others ## It's a long time since Jim has been seen onstage and it was great to see that he could handle comedic roles as well as dramatic roles, especially since he played five roles in this comedy including that of a corpse! ## Ensemble: Red Herring ## Supporting Actress: Rose Lamoureux as Mrs. Kravitz and others ## Rose is a particular favorite of mine, but I think she really exhibited her best acting ability in this comedy-she also played three roles and was great in all of them. Waiting in the Wings (comedy) ## Comedy: Waiting in the Wings ## Lead Actress: Jane Dewberry as May Davenport ## Supporting Actress: Betty Xander as Sarita Myrtle ## Supporting Actress: Nancy Bloom as Sylvia Archibald You Can't Take It With You (comedy) ## Comedy: You Can't Take It With You ## Scenic Design: Tom Felton ## Supporting Actor: Wade Brinkley as Mr. Kirby ## Supporting Actor: Scott Rollins as Boris Kolenkhov ## Supporting Actress: Heather Conway as Gay/Grand Duchess Olga Katrina |
