NATIONAL BOYCOTT OF FLORIDA UNTIL DEMOCARCY IS RESTORED

The Florida Secretary of State (Bush Co-Chair Katherine Harris), in failing to include additional totals for Gore in Nassau County, Palm Beach County, Miami-Dade and elsewhere in Florida gave certified results in Bush’s favor when those additional totals would have given the win to Gore.

This is an election Gore could have won by a significant margin if Palm Beach had finished its count, if dimpled ballots had been added to the total and/or if Miami-Dade had finished its recount.

Based up the early totals coming out of Miami-Dade, it is clear that Al Gore would win the state of Florida were Miami-Dade to continue counting. In the first 135 precincts of Miami-Dade counted, Gore received an additional 157 votes. This is an average of 1.16 additional votes per precinct. Based upon this average, if Miami-Dade’s 614 precincts were all counted, Mr. Gore is estimated to receive 714 additional votes from Miami-Dade alone. When this total of 714 is added to the totals from the other counties, Mr. Gore has well over the number needed to beat George W. Bush in Florida and win its electoral votes. This does not include the dimpled ballots, which would give him a much greater margin. However, because the Miami-Dade canvassers bent to Republican harassment, and stopped counting and will not even add totals so far received for Mr. Gore, the winner of actual vote in the electoral vote and the popular vote might never become President. The harassment from Bush supporters and Florida’s Republican Secretary of State’s claim she would not certify on Sunday was responsible for the delays in Palm Beach.

This is the last in a long series of offenses against the Constitution and against the voters in Florida. These include:

1. The turning away of African American voters from the polling places, telling them there were no more ballots.

2. The early closing of polling placed preventing working individuals who waited in line to vote from voting.

3. The refusal to count ballot boxes in African-American areas of Tallahassee.

4. The finding of ballot boxes in alleys, churches and closets (indicating widespread tampering with the vote).

5. The refusal of Palm beach precinct workers to give new ballots to Palm Beach voters who made a mistake and requested new ballots or to tell help them with ballots when assistance was requested.

6. The allowance of 4700 absentee ballots that were illegally issued due to Republican volunteers tampering with the ballot applications in Seminole County.

7. The fact that the exit polls showed Mr. Gore winning Florida by a substantial margin and that ONLY in Florida were the exit polls in dispute. The discrepancy indicates election tampering.

Election tampering will become the norm if Americans do not say "No" now. Since no one in the U.S. Attorney General’s office seems to care about violations of the 14th and 15th Amendments and the Voting Rights Act of 1965 (effectively making them null and void), it is up to us, the American people and children, to do something.

The best solution is for the voting public to organize sanctions against the state of Florida for failing to let their own voters determine their own election. We need to stop buying goods and services originating in Florida. California has healthier oranges anyway. All the major attractions in Florida have counterparts in California or elsewhere and the climate in California is better.

Boycotts worked in the days of Rosa Parks and, despite opposition from people like Dick Cheney, they worked in South Africa. Milosevic is gone from Yugoslavia. With a boycott, we can put pressure on the Florida legislature to seat the electors the people really asked for. Or in the alternative, those responsible for what appears to be clear elections tampering can be removed from office. The voters in Florida who lost their say will support us in this because they won’t want their process of democracy taken away from them.

The will of the majority of voters may have been defeated, but American’s do not have to let it continue to happen year after year and election after election. We can effectively stop it now with a simple national boycott of Florida and it’s products and services.
