Time, Savvy?
A Dr. Who Crossover
by Sarah

Notes: I'm a bit of a Dr Who fan. I used the eighth Dr. in this story and the companions are the ones from the books. I thought that Captain Jack Sparrow and the Dr. had a common quirkiness.

“Oh dear,” said the Dr looking at the TARDIS’s readout.

“What now?” asked Fitz.

“I seem to have miscalculated things slightly.”

“Not again,” sighed Sam.

“You can come on out now Jack. The soldiers have gone,” Shouted Will into the well in which Captain Sparrow was hiding.

“I’ll be up in a moment, savvy!” came the reply.

A few minutes later Jack’s inane grin appeared over the top of the well. “Aren’t ye gonna give me a hand?”

Will held his hand out but Sparrow ignored it and climbed out the well by himself.

Suddenly they heard a grating, wheezing, groaning noise and out of thin air appeared a large blue box with ‘Police call box’ written on the top.

The two friends stood there amazed, speechless even which was a rare occurrence in Sparrow’s case. When the noise ceased it was Jack who was the first to step forward. He walked right round the object then stopped when he came back to where he started. He then proceeded to knock on the door experimentally then place his ear to the door as if waiting for a reply. And most remarkably there was one; there was a sound of the door being opened. Sparrow stepped back in surprise.

The door swung open and out stepped the most oddly attired group since Sparrow’s own crew. There were two men; one was dressed rather flamboyantly in a green velvet frock coat completed with embroidered waistcoat, cravat and gold pocket watch. The other was younger and wearing a long black coat. A tall blonde girl dressed in what appeared to be male garb accompanied them. It was the older man that spoke first an amused grin on his face, “Oh! We seem to have bumped into some of the locals. How wonderful!” He held his hand out in a friendly gesture, “Hello I'm The Doctor and these are my companions Sam and Fitz. Who do I have the pleasure to address?”

Sparrow was suddenly jolted out of his stunned reverie and played his part like the actor he was, “I am ‘The’ Captain Jack Sparrow,” he doffed his hat and did an over the top bow, “and this be an…. associate of mine Mr Turner.”

“Nice to met you. Would you be so kind as to enlighten me as to where we are?” the Doctor patted the blue box gently, “the old girl’s playing up again. I must remember to give her a six thousand year service.”

“Ye be in Port Royal, savvy?”

“Savvy? Oh yes, yes I savvy,” replied the doctor tapping his forehead with one finger and nodding.

There was a resounding ‘click’ as Sparrow cocked his pistol, pointing it at the visitors.

“Now, if you would be so kind as to hand over all your valuables. You can start with that gold watch,” said Sparrow indicating with the pistol.

“Oh Dear!”

“Doctor do something!” said the Blond girl.

“I do hate guns, they’re so violent and primitive,” said the velvet jacketed man who had introduced himself as The Doctor and he delved into his pocket and produced a brown paper bag. He reached into the bag and pulled out some kind of confectionery and offered Will and Sparrow one, “Jelly Baby?” The Doctors companions looked on apparently unsurprised by the Doctor’s actions.

“Excuse me?” said Will thinking that this ‘Doctor’ must be as crazy as Sparrow. The Doctor proceeded to wave the ‘Jelly Baby’ in the air proclaiming, “Come one they are very tasty. Just try one.”

Both Will and Jack felt a strange urge to obey the Doctors suggestion. Sparrow went first cautiously reaching into the bag but when he stepped back the pistol he had been holding a moment ago was no longer in his hand and the Doctor was standing in front of him holding the said same pistol with an inane grin on his face. The Doctors companions stood back not interfering. They obviously had every faith in ‘The Doctor’s’ abilities.

“Looking for this?”

“Now that wasn’t fair like, savvy?” said Sparrow reaching for the hilt of his cutlass to find that was also missing. The Doctor was holding the cutlass in the other hand and whistling merrily.

“What are you about, sir?” demanded Sparrow.

“About? Hmmm. I so deplore violence,” said the Doctor as he raised the pistol. For a moment Will thought he was aiming at him and went to dodge out the way.

“Whoa! What are you doing? Don’t sh-,”

‘Crack!’ the pistol went of in a cloud of smoke. When he looked around, Will saw that the shot had been discharged harmlessly into the wall behind him. The Doctors companions stood there wide-eyed and shocked. They seemed surprised at this mans actions.

“Now you can have your pistol back. Please don’t threaten me again,” said the Doctor handing it back to Sparrow but still keeping a firm grip on the cutlass.

“And what about-,” Sparrow started but the Doctor interrupted him.

“You may have your cutlass back once you give your word that you wont try to harm me or my companions. Do we have a deal,” the Doctor added playfully, “Savvy?” and held out his free hand.

Sparrow tilted his head to one side as if he were considering this ‘doctors’ proposition. After a brief pause he smile his toothy grin and shook the Doctors hand.

“I accepted your proposal. I give my word I will not harm neither you or ye companions, Savvy?”

“Then it is agreed, sir,” replied the Doctor handing Sparrow back his cutlass hilt first. He then reached into his pocket and pulled out a hand full of assorted currency, “Hmmm. Ah yes! I knew I had it somewhere,” and picked out two gold doubloons handing them to Sparrow then placing the rest back in his pocket, “for your trouble, sir.” Then turned to his companions and said, “Come along you two. We’ve wasted enough time here.” And walked of down the path into town.

Will and Sparrow stood there watching them leave until Sparrow spoke, “Now that was an odd fellow. Almost alien, don’t you think?”

“Yes, maybe. I don’t know.”

“Very, savvy,” replied Sparrow letting out a hearty laugh apparently highly amused by his little pun.

The End (At least for now)
