Palace Hotel: San Francisco

Clutching flowers in front of her, Julia stares down the aisle towards Greg who is shuffling nervously. The wedding is taking place on the lawn of the hotel with uninvited hotel guests gawking at the scene. The congregation is sparse with none of the Wheelers having turned up except Jake…and Isabelle.

Julia begins to travel down the aisle slowly and Adrienne snatches a glance at Isabelle who is watching, sour faced. Julia feels David's arm link in hers and they grin, speaking through teeth.

"I don't know why I had to give you away." David hisses testily.

"Because Jake is Greg's best man. And there wasn't exactly anyone else…"

The violin music begins to swell and David berates Julia again. "And a white wedding dress? Are you taking the…"

"Shut up." Julia cuts across him angrily.

They finally reach their destination and Greg is stony faced as a disinterested David shoves Julia towards him before sitting down in the front row.

"Let us begin." The minister smiles as the violin music fades out. "We have been brought here today to witness the marriage of Julia Wheeler and Greg Masters…"

As the minister continues, Greg turns to Julia who is staring ahead of her. He begins to feel the blood pumping through his head and wipes the palms of his hands on his blazer to remove the sweat.

"I do." He hears Julia say before turning his head. Isabelle is watching him from the back of the congregation and they make eye contact which seems to last for minutes. Snapping his head back round as he feels Julia tugging at his sleeve, Greg continues to listen.

"I do." Julia repeats herself.

"Do you promise to love, cherish, honor and obey him in sickness and in health, forsaking all others as long as you both shall live?"

"Yes…I do."

"Gregory…" The minister turns, grabbing Greg's attention again. "Do you Gregory Alan Masters take Julia Victoria Wheeler to be your lawful wedded bride?"

"I…" Greg stops and looks back round again where Isabelle has taken a bemused expression.

"Greg." Julia snaps under her breath.

"No!" He exclaims. "I don't. This is wrong."

"Greg!" Julia calls out after him but he has run to the back of the congregation and Isabelle stands to greet him.

"What are you doing?" Isabelle is shocked.

"I want to marry you! Not her."

"Are you crazy?"

"Yes he is!" Adrienne butts in. "Clearly he's been drinking or something."

This is met with disapproving murmurs from the congregation who all seem to be staring at Greg. "No I'm not. I was crazy to think I should marry Julia. It's you. It always has been and it always will be. Marry me Isabelle…now."

Her heart pounding, Isabelle glances across the guests to Julia who is watching through narrow eyes. "Okay. Let's do it."

"No!" Julia screams and rushes over, closely followed by David and Jake. "You can't do this."

"It's the least you deserve." Isabelle spits.

"You evil…" Julia rushes forwards and lunges for the older woman but she is quickly over powered by David.

"Come on." Isabelle gestures to a slightly amused Greg. "And David…take out the trash."

As Julia, Jake and David move down the aisle to leave, Isabelle takes her place opposite Greg and the minister starts the service again.

Wheeler Estate: Napa Valley

Mindy sits patiently in her car as she watches John and Lauren leave the house and head towards the fields. On the seat next to her, there is a small tape recorder and a bottle of liquid which she quickly drops into her pocket. There are no other cars in the garage and confident that she won't be seen, Mindy steps out onto the driveway and walks around the side of the house towards the pool.

Opening the french windows into the house, Mindy steps into the airy kitchen and stops for a moment to see if she can hear anyone. Nothing.

"It's okay Pilar. I've found it!" Michael's voice reaches her. Taking a deep breath, she hides behind the kitchen door and waits for him to pass. The coast is now clear and she runs lightly across the hallway and up the grand staircase. Lauren's bedroom is now in view and she sneaks in, shutting the door quietly behind her.

There is an overnight bag on the bed, obviously for John's stay in the hospital and through the doors of the balcony, she can see that Lauren and John are still in the fields. Putting a hand in her coat pocket, Mindy glides into the bathroom and opens up the medicine cabinet, rummaging through the pill bottles until she finds something suitable. She eventually notices vitamin tablets and checks the name. They're Lauren's.

She tips them onto the shiny marble surface next to the basin and pulls out a bottle containing clear fluid. It holds a dropping pipette with which she sucks up some of the liquid and begins to coat the tablets one by one until they are all finished. Then, with a smile, Mindy pours the tablets back into the bottle and places the liquid in her pocket.

"I did warn you Lauren." She justifies, grinning and steps back into the bedroom where she glances around for a concealed space. The door to one of the closets is open and Mindy is pleased as she takes out the tape recorder and hides it on a shelf under a pile of old clothes.

The store assistant had assured her that the timer would work. "It better damn well work." Mindy's smile fades. Through the balcony doors, she can see John and Lauren nearing the pool. With a gasp, she rushes back down the stairs and out of the front door, narrowly escaping being caught.

Palace Hotel: San Francisco

"You're coming home with me. I'll call Henry to collect your car." Greg smiles and cups Isabelle's face in his hands, kissing her.

"Okay." Isabelle gets into the limousine and pulls the door shut. Through the darkened glass, she can see Adrienne approaching and rolls her eyes.

"Father!" Adrienne calls out, pulling the skirt of her dress behind her. When she reaches the older man, she throws her bouquet of flowers at him.

"Hey!" Greg is thrown off balance and quickly catches the mass of lilies as petals fly everywhere.

"You're a fool!"

"I beg your pardon?"

"You heard me. What on earth possessed you to marry Isabelle after everything she's done?" Adrienne scolds, her voice embittered.

"She hasn't done anything. I love her and you're going to have to accept that. I won't choose between you and my wife Adrienne."

"You wouldn't have had to if you'd have married Julia. Can you imagine what this must have done to the poor woman?"

In the limousine Isabelle smiles and listens carefully to Greg's reply. "I think she'll get over it."

"That's all you can say." Adrienne scoffs. "I've never been so ashamed. I'm embarrassed beyond belief."

"This isn't about you!" Greg blasts his daughter and watches the look of shock.

Her mouth open, she pushes wisps of blonde hair out of her eyes. "It's nice to know I'm so important to you."

"You don't know just how important." Greg replies, mindful of his daughter's past. "Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going home…with my wife."

The window of the limousine winds down and Isabelle's face appears. "Do you want a lift Adrienne?"

"I'd rather jump off a cliff."

The hopeful glint in Isabelle's eyes is indicative of her possible response but she remains silent as Greg opens the door and Adrienne runs off, her dress blowing in the wind.

San Francisco General Hospital: San Francisco

"You're late." Cassie snarls as Jake comes running down the corridor. "I'm glad you're taking this so seriously."

"Sorry. I had other things to attend to."

"After all the effort you took to come up with the e-mail you sent me, I thought you might be a little more eager to get here."

"You don't know I sent that e-mail."

"But you did didn't you."

Jake is smug, "It was just to prepare you."

Confused by the conversation, Guy notices the suit Jake is wearing, "Did the wedding go badly?"

"It's none of your damn business Guy."

"Thankfully." Cassie replies for her husband as the doctor steps out of his office.

"This is the Wheeler party?"

"Yes." Guy hands baby Lucas over to Cassie before they all follow the doctor into his office and take seats opposite him at his desk. The room is darker than the rest of the hospital and the walls are lined with book cases, holding numerous volumes of old medical textbooks.

"So you want to run a paternity test on…" The doctor frowns and flicks through the papers on his desk. "Lucas Wheeler."

"Yes." Cassie mutters, slightly embarrassed. She can only imagine what the doctor must think of her if she doesn't even know who is the father of her child.

"Okay. I think the easiest way to do this is to take blood samples from each of you. Does anybody have a problem with that?"

"No." Is the resounding answer from the whole group and the doctor notices them all staring at him, a look of apprehension in their eyes.

Masters Mansion: San Francisco

"There are worse people your father could be marrying." David tosses himself down on the bed and watches as Adrienne slips out of her dress.

"Yeah…Lizzie Borden." Dropping the dress to the floor, Adrienne reveals lacy black lingerie and smiles as she notices David staring at her.

"Wow." He mutters under his breath.

Thanks for the recommendation Julia. Adrienne thinks to herself as she approaches her lover. "You like it?"

"I…I love it!" David is overwhelmed as she slides on top of him.

"I was a little worried that you might think it was…"

Adrienne lets out a surprised scream as David rolls her over and stares down at her, placing a finger to her lips. "Sshhh. Let me show your how much I love it."

"What a fiasco!" Travis calls out as he enters the house and expects his wife to answer immediately with a shrill whine about the mistake her father is making. She had left the wedding before him and forced him to catch a cab home. "Adrienne? You're not still upset with me are you?"

There is still no reply and he races up the stairs. As soon as he steps onto the landing, he hears moaning sounds and raises an eyebrow. They appear to be coming from his bedroom. Travis almost knows what he is going to find before he steps inside the room. Pushing the door open quietly, he swallows as the noise gets louder and takes in the view in front of him. Under the cream silk covers of the bed, Adrienne is in the arms of another man…and they are making love.

Trying to register what he has just seen, Travis quietly closes the door behind him, sure that he hasn't been seen and runs off down the staircase. When he gets out of the house, he jumps into his car and slams his hands down on the steering wheel. "You bitch!"

Wheeler Estate: Napa Valley

"I'll get it." Lauren assures the rest of the house with a sigh as she pulls the front door open. A handsome suited man stands before her and she frowns. "Can I help you?"

"Yes. I'm sorry." He shakes her hand. "I'm Bobby Santadio. I've come to visit Michael Wheeler."

"Oh." Lauren is bemused. "I'm not sure if he is still in…"

"I can come back later if that is more convenient."

"No…I'll check if you want." Lauren is about to turn as she sees a red car screech to a halt outside and Julia springs out. She is wearing her wedding dress and trounces towards the door.

"Does this kind of thing happen often?" Bobby asks, amused.

Lauren keeps her eyes on the furious woman stomping up the steps in a white wedding gown. "Unfortunately yes."

"Get out of my way." Julia shoves Lauren and runs into the hallway.

"Hey!" Lauren shouts out after her, angered. "What the hell is going on?"

"Ask your mother." Julia spits. "She hijacked my wedding!"

"Hijacked? What do you mean?"

"She married Greg!"

Holding up her hands, Lauren turns and smiles politely at Bobby. "Would you just excuse me a second?"

"Sure." Bobby smiles.

"She married Greg…at your wedding ceremony." Lauren pivots and begins to probe the woman in front of her.

"Yes." Julia bitterly confirms. She rips the veil from her head, violently.

"Alright…so why are you here?"

"I still own a part of this house remember. I'm moving back in."

"Oh…good." Lauren offers in reply before heading back to Bobby. "I don't think he's in Mr Santadio. I'll go check."

"Thank you." Bobby steps into the house and shuts the door behind him. "It's Julia isn't it? I believe we met at your office the other day."

"Oh." Julia's mouth drops open at the embarrassing situation and she tugs at the wedding dress to make herself look slightly more presentable. "I'm so sorry about this. I've had a very trying morning."

"It looks like it. Anything I can help with?"

"Not unless you're a hitman." Julia laughs innocently and turns to see herself in the mirror. "I'm really going to have to get changed. I hope we can meet again."

"So do I." Bobby grins as Lauren comes running back down the stairs.

"I'm sorry. He's not here. Can I leave a message?"

"No, no. It's alright. I can come back later."

"Oh okay. I'm sorry to be rude but I've got to go and find my husband."

"Of course." Bobby waves a hand as Lauren leaves him alone in the hallway.

Masters Mansion: San Francisco

Greg leads Isabelle across the landing towards his bedroom and flings the door open. They are immediately greeted by clothes strewn all over the bed and smashed china on the floor. The closet doors are all open and Isabelle's eyes widen.

A young maid is standing amidst the mess and stares sheepishly at her boss. "I'm sorry."

"How did this happen?" Greg steps forwards and begins to sift through the clothes. They all seem to be his.

"Mrs Wheeler turned up a short while ago. She seemed quite distressed and after she left…I found this."

"Julia." Isabelle rolls her eyes. "She had to go out with a bang."

"At least it's only a few material things." Greg dismisses the maid and pulls Isabelle into an embrace. "This is your home now. You can do some shopping and buy new stuff. It's a good excuse."

"No offense Greg but shopping might be a bit boring."

"You needn't worry about that. You've got a company to take care of."

"What?" Isabelle pulls away, confused.

"I'm signing my fifty percent of the Wheeler corporation back over to you and the children. I know Julia still owns the other half but I thought…"

Isabelle is astonished, "Thank you."

Elliott House: San Francisco

Travis walks up the driveway, his face contorted with anger and starts to bang on the front door. "David!" He calls out. "I need to talk."

There is no answer and he sighs before knocking again. Behind him, he hears the screech of tyres and turns around to see Julia jump out of her car. "Travis?" She seems surprised.

"Yeah. What are you doing here?" He asks in return.

"I'm looking for David. Is he in?"

"No unfortunately."

"Damn. I needed to talk."

"So did I." Travis looks at the ground and bangs a fist against the door making Julia jump.

"Travis?" She puts a hand on his shoulder. "What's wrong?"

"I just caught Adrienne in bed…with another man."

"Oh God. That's why you came here then."

"Yeah I need advice. I didn't see the man's face. If I had done, I'd be able to do something about it."

"Ah…" Julia pushes her hair behind her ears and lets out a small sigh of relief, glad that she didn't fall into a trap. "It looks like we both need advice then."

"Or revenge."

"That'll work too." Julia concedes. After a few seconds the signs of a smile begin to show on her face. "I know the perfect way."

"What?"

"Follow me." She pulls at his sleeve and he obeys.

San Francisco General Hospital: San Francisco

"I don't know why I have to come in this early." John grumbles.

"Because the doctor told you you need to rest before the procedure tomorrow. It's going to be uncomfortable you know." Lauren continues to unpack John's overnight back and almost mechanically places clothes in the small wardrobe.

"I can get rest at home."

"Oh shut up with your moaning." Lauren snaps and after finishing the unpacking, she shuts the overnight bag. "Now…" She runs a hand through her hair. "Is there anything you want?"

"Actually I…" John's request is cut short by the door bursting open and Mindy stands in the doorway, holding Adam in her arms.

"Hi!" She shouts making Lauren roll her eyes. "Somebody wanted to come and see you!"

"Come here!" John holds out his hands and grabs his son, placing him on the bed. Adam's impatiently flailing legs crinkle the bed sheets and he bounces his teddy bear up and down.

"He looks so well." Lauren offers, unsure of exactly what to say.

Mindy moves next to her and replies quietly, "That's because he's with his Daddy." Lauren shoots Mindy an annoyed glance before surveying her stepson.

"I have something for you." Adam's eyes move up and down in time with the bouncing bear.

"What is it?" John asks.

"Gilbert." Adam thrusts the bear towards John who takes it. "He'll keep you safe."

Overwhelmed, John kisses the top of the boy's head. "Thank you. As long as you're sure you don't need him."

"Listen." Mindy holds her hands together in front of her. "I'm going to have to leave town briefly tomorrow evening. It will be after the procedure but I should be back later tomorrow night. Is that okay?"

"Sure." John does not take his eyes off his son. "We'll probably be zonked out won't we Adam."

"Yes."

"Good. That's sorted then." Mindy crosses her arms and smiles satisfied.

"Where are you going?" Lauren inquires in a low, seemingly disinterested voice. But she is very interested because she does not trust this woman at all.

"Berkeley. I've got a friend there who I haven't seen for ages." Mindy hopes that John will not be suspicious and he does not seem to be.

"I'm sure." Lauren comments with a sideways glance, her suspicions obviously piqued.

"You needn't worry." Mindy turns and grins at her enemy. "I'll be back."
