This Week in RCW. January 7, 2005

(Footage from the 01/04/05 episode of Foundation is shown, focussing on the Road to the Revolution matches and the eight man tag match.)

(The camera cuts to the panel set. Jon Z sits in the center. Aki Mann, Kevin Stone, and CM Punk are to his right. Ms Vanessa, Christopher Daniels, and Johnny Kashmere to his left.)

Jon: Welcome to This Week In RCW. For the first time we're coming to you on the Fox Network, and we are underway with the biggest tournament to date in RCW. The Road to the Revolution has begun, and five of our six panelists today are a part of it.

Punk: There couldn't have been a better way to come in. Within five months, you be seeing me sitting back with two titles.

Aki: Be careful, young Punk, for pride tempered with greed will lead to ruin.

Punk: Uh, yeah.

Daniels: Enough of his ego, when am I getting entered into the tournament? What's with keeping the brackets a secret?

Vanessa: From what I heard, some of them aren't even set. A few names slip away from you, Jon? I remember you saying something about a huge amount of new hires, but that quickly turned into four debuts in the tournament. What happened there.

Jon: You will see a lot more than four debuts, however not everyone signed is for the sake of the tournament. Some of the new talent won't be reporting to work for some time, although there are currently under contract.

Kevin: And they are?

Jon: Oh no, you're not getting it out of me today. These surprises are too big to let slip early.

Kashmere: Sure, Jon, big surprises like Jett Taylor?

Jon: Is he still alive?

Aki: Ah, life, the reward for for all when true justice is observed.

Jon: Right...Anyway, the list for the Road to the Revolution is becoming more complete by the day. Just earlier today it broke on PPVrenegade.com that Austin Lee has been entered into Cell D, where he joins Chad Collyer and Joey Sprinklers. Those two had thier first tournament match yesterday at a live event in Akron Ohio. Lets take you there.

(Footage is shown from the RCW live event in Akron Ohio from 1/6/05. Vix and Alan Mayse provide commentary.)

Chad Collyer vs. Joey Sprinklers
Road To The Revolution Tournament Match
Round One, Cell D

(Chad Collyer wears down Joey Sprinklers with a series of grounded submission holds. Joey Sprinklers taps out to a side figure four leglock.)

Winner: Chad Collyer by submission

Swinger vs. Brother Jim

(Brother Jim keeps control up until Swinger hits a side russian legsweep and wears him down with a side headlock. Swinger signals for the Swing Thing, but BJ clips his knee with a bible while the ref isn't looking and quickly hits the Leap of Faith for the pin.)

Winner: Brother Jim by pin

Jon: There's Brother Jim picking up some momentum on the way to Dayton Ohio next week on Foundation when he faces Ronin Fox in tournament action. This will be a rematch from last month's FPPVW resurection event, when Ronin Fox successfully defended the RCW Television Championship against Brother Jim in what was called a true match of the year candidate. Will next week be able to deliver compared to thier first encounter?

Kevin: I was shocked at how both of them went at that last match. I don't know if they'll be able to touch that level again the same way.

Punk: I've heard things like that before. Some people can just hit that level over and over again. The big question though, who's going to win it? How much is it going to matter when I face Fox next?

Kashmere: Jon, isn't it a bit early for Punk to be facing the Television Champion? Tournament or no tournament, other people are in line you know.

Punk: Where exactly are you in that line?

Kashmere: Much closer than you, I know that much.

Jon: For the purposes of the tournament, it doesn't even matter, the RCW Television Championship will not be defended in any tournament match. Now if you happen to win against the champion, that might help you cut in that line a bit.

Punk: I am really going to like it here. Imagine, three titles within five months.

Daniels: You haven't won the first one yet, and you can take your eyes off the Television Championship. I've been chasing that one since day one.

Punk: I bet I can make a career out of doing things before you.

(Daniels stands up.)

Daniels: You're not getting ahead of me this time. Not here!

(Punk sits back smirking)

Punk: How's your neck, Angel?

(Daniels tries to lunge across the table at Punk. Security comes on camera quickly to pull Daniels away. Punk sits still.)

(Commercial break)

(When the camera returns to the panel, Christopher Daniels and CM Punk are missing.)

Jon: Welcome back to This Week in RCW. We're attempting to restore order here. We understand that CM Punk and Christopher Daniels have been kept separated.

Kashmere: Should have let them go, that could have been fun.

Aki: Nay, bloodthirsty Johnny. A battle in such a place is without honor.

Vanessa: Nay?

Kevin: Can we get to more matches?

Jon: Good idea. Here's two more tournament matches from last night as Huh takes on Chris Stylez and Jason Lee battles Dusty Schneble.

Huh vs. Chris Stylez
Road To The Revolution Tournament Match
Round One, Cell A

(Huh surprises Chris with a hiptoss and a running senton. He goes up top for the Huhsault, but Chris rolls out of the way. Huh jumps up, holding his midsection. Chris catches him with a full nelson and forces him down, bending his back over both knees for the Stylez Bridle. Huh taps out.)

Winner: Chris Stylez by submission.

Jason Lee vs. Dusty Schneble
Road To The Revolution Tournament Match
Round One, Cell E

(Jason reaches for a handshake, but get slapped. He screams with rage and hits a vicious clothesline. Though Dusty regains control with a series of hiptosses and suplexes, Jason seems to absorb the punishment with little problem. Dusty picks him up for a vertical suplex, but Jason fights free and lands behind Dusty for a release German Suplex. Jason picks up Dusty in a fireman's carry and hits Sic Semper for the pin.)

Winner: Jason Lee by pin.

(Commercial break)

(The camera cuts to Zac Hensley at the RCW News Desk.)

Zac: Welcome back to This Week In RCW, and here is your Road to the Revolution update. As it stands right now, we have standings for five of the ten brackets of the first round. In Cell A Cynric and Chris Stylez are tied with one win apiece, as Huh is the first man to be eliminated from the brackets to the Four Corner Gauntlet. Only one match has taken place in Cell B, as CM Punk made his debut with a strong victory against Brother Jim. Brother Jim has one chance to stay a part of the bracket as he faces Ronin Fox on the next episode of Foundation. Dru Stoke is leading the back in Cell C as he defeated Concession Boy Sr, and it's just been revealed to me that Dru will be in the ring again on the next Foundation to take on the second debuting wrestler in the tournament. Of course Chad Collyer and Jason Lee are both in good positions in thier respective cells due to the matches we saw earlier tonight. Cell D will continue Tuesday when Austin lee takes on Chad Collyer. As always during the tournament you can log on to PPVrenegade.com for current standings and updates in the tournament. We'll return in a moment with action from this past Wednesday, including the RCW Tag Team Championship on the line, and Ladies RCW Champion Shadow with Naomi Leach in action. Stay with us.

(A promo for RCW Genesis on Pay Per View is shown.)

(Commercial break)

(Footage is shown from the RCW live event in Fairborn Ohio from 1/5/05. Mary Alice Latino and Colt Cabana provide commentary.)

Shadow and Naomi Leach vs. Lisa Letty and Concession Girl

(Lisa starts against Naomi. Lisa keeps Naomi running, using the ropes to hit flying headscisors and quick armdrags and hiptosses. She attempts a bulldog from the second rope, but Naomi tosses her away and hits a dropkick that sends her to the corner. Lisa tags in Concession Girl. CG charges into a lockup, but gets pulled into a brainbuster. Naomi pulls CG up and whips her to the ropes, catching her in a reverse tornado DDT. She pulls CG half way up again and hits a DDT into the Leach Hold. Lisa springboards into the ring and hits a dropkick to Naomi's head. She lets go and rolls back to tag in Shadow. The ref goes to pull Lisa back to the corner, and Shadow pulls CG up to her feet. Naomi pulls her to the corner and sets her up in the tree of woe, hitting a short run knee smash. Lisa falls off and Naomi applies a full nelson to pull her to her feet. She turns Lisa toward Shadow, who hits the interceptor and follows up with a flying headscissor takedown as Naomi lets go and leaves the ring. Lisa gets past the ref, but gets tripped and pulls out of the ring by Naomi as Shadow hits the Shadowfall for the pin.)

Winners: Shadow and Naomi Leach by pin.

(Commercial break)

(The camera cuts back to the panel, Christopher Daniels and CM Punk still missing.)

Jon: We're about out of time once more, don't forget to watch Foundation this Tuesday for three more Road to the Revolution matches, a new addition to the Ladies roster, and a huge tag team main event pitting the Second City Saints of CM Punk and Colt Cabana against former RCW Tag Team Champions the Pyro Twins.

Kevin: The RCW Tag Team ranks are going crazy, my old partner Cynric actually made another try the other night, what happened with that match?

Jon: We're about to take a look at that match to finish up the night. One half of the champions, Alan Mayse, insisted on defending the title against Ronin Fox and a partner of his choosing. Fox was Alan's opponent for the RCW Championship on the first RCW Pay Per View, and there's a lot of history between the two from back in thier FPPVW days, so it was natural for Fox to be one of Alan and Austin Lee's first challengers. After the RCW Television Championship Match at Darkest Night between Fox and Cynric, the two of them were quick to get in the ring again, this time as partners. Lets go to the match.

(More footage from the 1/05/05 RCW Live Event is shown.)

Alan Mayse and Austin Lee vs. Ronin Fox and Cynric
RCW Tag Team Championship Match

(Alan starts against Cynric. They lock up, Cynric taking control with a hammerlock and sweeping Alan to the canvas, applying a front facelock. Alan fights back, getting to his feet and hitting a northern lights suplex. Alan runs the ropes but misses with a dropkick as Cynric rolls to the side. Alan turns to face him, but gets hit with a hangman's neckbreaker. Cynric applies a Boston Crab, but Alan is able to pull his way close enough to the corner to tag in Austin. Austin comes into the ring and hits a bulldog. Alan rolls out of the ring as Austin applies a side headlock on Cynric. Cynric fights up to his feet and backs up into the ropes to launch Austin across the ring. Austin runs the ropes and gets hit with a running koppo kick. Cynric tags in Fox. Fox hits a slingshot shoulderblock as Austin gets up. Fox keeps Austin on the mat with a fujiwara armbar. Austin fights into a sitting position and Fox runs the ropes to hit a running dropkick to the back of his head. Fox covers for two and tags Cynric back in. Cynric gets in the ring and he and Fox whip Austin into the ropes for a double hiptoss and a pair of elbows. Fox leaves the ring as Cynric pulls Austin up. Austin fights back with some fists to the midsection and tries to set Cynric up for a powerbomb. Cynric blocks the attempt and hits a back body drop. Cynric pulls Austin up and backs him into the corner. He tags in Fox and whips Austin into a neutral corner. Fox enters the ring and charges to hit the Tail End DDT. He covers, but Alan puts Austin's foot on the rope. Cynric runs around the ring to chase off Alan, who slides into the ring as the ref argues with him. Cynric slides in the ring too and pulls Austin up to his feet. Austin hits a low blow on Cynric and pushes him back to the corner. Fox charges at Austin, but Austin sidesteps and shoves Fox into the corner to collide with Cynric. Fox is distracted making sure Cynric is okay as Austin turns him around and hits the Degenerate Driver, covering for the pin.)

Winners: Alan Mayse and Austin Lee by pin.
