| As a Software Engineer.. Infosys My knowledge in computer and analytical skills secured me an offer for employment from Infosys Technologies Ltd., India when I was in the 7th semester of my under graduation. We initially underwent 3 months of training where we were exposed to the Basics of Software Engineering - Fundamentals of Programming Languages, Data Base Management, Hardware / Software Concepts, Analysis of Algorithms, UI Design. Then followed the Stream specific training in the Mainframe Stream. This includes JCL, MVS, COBOL, DB2, CICS and other Mainframe Technologies. I successfully completed the training in all these courses and came out as one of the top-scorers with a GPA of 5.0/5.0 in Generic Stream and 4.23/5.0 in Mainframe Stream courses. Project I was posted to Chennai Development Center after the training.My first project was for Kansas City Southern Railway. The application of the project is "Enhancement of Management Control System" for KCSR. This project involves programming in Visual Basic, Cobol with MQ-Series as middle-ware. Being my first project, I learnt a lot of programming, testing and debugging skills. Now I am working on a project for Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway. It is a maintanence project for their Transportation Systems. It involves programming in Cobol, Natural. It is indeed a great experience working with Infosys, which is one of the leading software-consultancy companies in India and has made a mark for itself in the global software market. It helped me get the maturity and become a more professional, responsible and systematic person. I will be completing about 14 months in Infosys before I plan to go for my graduate studies. |
