A New Name for "Little Squirt"
Our adorable cream silver boy has gone to Phoenix to be a show cat in TICA. He's living with Pam's good friend Linda Krolik, Sphynx exhibitor, and her husband Tom who have renamed the boy PrairieDawn's Lisimba of Medabu. Simba has recently been photographed by the world-famous Tetsu from Japan. We look forward to seeing the proofs soon. In the meantime, Linda and Tom have sent these for us to enjoy:

PrairieDawn's Chloe Renaissance Wins TICA Award
The International Cat Association (TICA) has named our Chloe "Black Tortoiseshell Devon Rex of the Year" for 2006!
Southern Alberta Calgary Cat Fanciers' Show, April 29 & 30, 2006
We got brave and took two of our Devons to the last show of TICA's season in Calgary on the weekend.
PrairieDawn's Chloe Renaissance, black tortie, won three finals, making her a Triple Grand Champion:
9th All Breed (Lynn Sherer), defeating 47 cats
3rd All Breed (Beth Hicks), defeating 53 cats
2nd All Breed (Vickie Shields), defeating 54 cats
Capilano's Stirling of PrairieDawn, our 7.5 month old blue silver stud-boy-to-be received four finals in kitten class:
10th All Breed (Vickie Shields), defeating 21 kittens
6th All Breed (Pam Barrett), defeating 25 kittens
4th All Breed (Beth Hicks), defeating 27 kittens
2nd All Breed (Laura Cunningham), defeating 30 kittens
Congrats and thanks to his breeder, Cheryl Dunsmore, and his stud's owner, Sherise Giffen-Rousch.
Another thanks goes to Leslie Brown, Nudirexshun cattery in Oregon, for sending us a solid chocolate, straight coated F2 (Devon x American Shorthair) kitten just in time for the show. "Purdy" is just four months old and a queen-to-be. We showed her in Household Pet Kitten category and did very well. Purdy won "Best of the Best Household Pet Kittens" on Saturday and "Spectator's Choice for Best Kitten" on Sunday (out of 34 kittens in the show hall). We had portraits taken of Purdy and will post them when they arrive.
It was fun to get to a show again and we did pretty good against the campaigners, I'd say.
Our lilac tortie girl, Grand Champion PrairieDawn's Abracacabra ("Abby"), retired to a pet home this weekend. It was our trip's low point, but we know this queen be happier in a home where her reign is unchallenged.
Our "I" Litter is Here! Thursday January 12, 2006
These kittens are reserved. Stay tuned for more litter announcements.
Ch-ch-changes! - October 19, 2005
Aylen and Mork have retired from our breeding program. Squirt has gone to a forever pet home, too. Letting these critters go was very difficult, but we know they will make their new familes very happy. We know we chose the best families we could. Saddly, we can't keep them all. For us, six cats is plenty!
We hope for kittens in December or so with kittens available in March.
Thanks to my good friend Sheri we now have a hybrid program. Dreamscape's Prairie Fire, AKA "Flame", is a red silver classic American Shorthair. He will sire one hybrid litter for us, expanding the Devon Rex genepool. Flame is a doll and a brat. He definitely has an "inner Devon"!
Do you know of a young person who has an interest in showing cats? I am the TICA NW Region Liaison for the Junior Achiever Program, so ask me!
See you at the Calgary show at the South Legion, October 29 and 30. We'll take Chloe.

Thank you to Linda Krolik, Medabu Sphynx, for spoiling us in her home. We enjoyed good friendship and wonderful food all weekend. Meeting Linda's friend, Dona Harris, animal communicator and psychic was an eye and heart opening experience. Dona does readings by phone. Email her to setup an appointment: donna.harris31@verizon.net (corrected) "Our Seattle Visit".
C Litter Reunion - November 27 - 15 Months Old
Thank you to Trish for coordinating a reunion of the C Litter Devons in her Calgary home. Our family had the wonderful opportunity to meet Chloe's littermates, Cedric ("Booh"), Chester, and Chase, plus Fantasia ("Tatsu", Chester's new playmate) and Daniel ("Chango", Cedric's snuggle buddy) all grown up. "C Litter Album".
Devon Heaven
Pam is off to New England, October 22--25, to participate in Devon Heaven, an annual meeting of Devon Fanciers, plus an all-Devon cat show, hosted by the CFA's Devon Rex Breed Club. This year our cats will stay home and Pam will travel alone. She looks forward to meeting the best of the best -- breeders AND cats -- in Boxborough, MA. For more information on Devon Heaven, read the DRBC's article, "What exactly is Devon Heaven".

Devon Rex Kitten Research Project Final Report Now Available
Thank you to Dr. Susan Little for all her work to help Devon fanciers monitor the health of our very special cats.
Devon Rex Kitten Info Report
"Thank you everyone, but the real thanks still go to all the
participants and especially those who believed in this project from
the start, even in the face of opposition. I think we showed the breed is in good shape, especially as we begin
to accumulate data in other breeds and can do some comparisons. We
found no horrible issues, no sense of doom. We've established
baseline data that can be used for future monitoring of breed
health, and that individual breeders can use to ascertain how their
own experience stands up to the breed as a whole." -- Dr. Susan Little, DVM
PrairieDawn Devon Rex was a proud participant in this landmark study.

CHLOE'S SHOW RESULTS - FEB 21/22, 2004
PrairieDawn's Chloe Renaissance, black tortoiseshell kitten out of Triple Grand Champion Algonquin Aylen Rose of PrairieDawn and Capilano's Mickey McDevon, competed this past weekend at her first show. We went to the show "just for fun". Despite having what I believe is a small, narrow head, and teeny ears (for a Devon), Chloe did very well. She achieved 6 out of 10 possible finals. There were 34 kittens in competition.
- 10th Best Allbreed Kitten (defeated 24) - Yamada
- 10th Best Allbreed Kitten (defeated 24) - Nottingham

SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 1, 2004 -- OUR "D" LITTER HAS ARRIVED
PrairieDawn's Abracadabra (lavender cream tortie) delivered 3 pretty babies out of
BigBlue's Machoke of PrairieDawn ("Mork", seal mink

Colours -- and sexes! -- are my best guess at this
