| A Little Life Lost Written by Meghan Hammond (Brayden's Godmother) (read at Brayden's funeral) Our hearts all broke when we heard the news, we all wept and begged it not to be true. How could this happen to such a young soul? The one who had so much of his life untold? When tomorrow comes our hearts will still ache, but what we should realize is it was God's fate. Someday we'll find out why he was taken with so much life to live, And why he was taken when we all had so much more love to give. We'll cherish the yesterdays and only wonder what could have been, for the little boy with the beautiful big grin. Our little man's heart was beautiful and pure, his eyes never saw the things only time could cure. His smiles were so precious his fingers and toes were too, It's so unfair for him to be taken out of the blue. He's an angel now with beautiful wings, And is looking over us all and begins to sing. He sings of the love he knew so true, And sings of the new place where he flew. He is happy though because he's in a better place. And will wait for us all at the pearly gates. We Love you Brayden, You're always in our hearts. Thank you for the time you gave us, And the comfort of knowing your heart. With Love, Meghan March 13, 2001 |
| This poem was given to me by Kerry Hansen ... Brayden's Aunt I thought of you and I closed my eyes and prayed to God today. I asked what makes a mother, and I know I heard him say, A mother has a baby, this we know is true, But God.... can you be a mother when your baby is not with you? Yes you can he replied, with confidence in his voice, I gave many women babies, when they leave is not their choice Some I leave for a lifetime others for days, And some I send to fill your womb, but there's no need to stay. I just don't understand this God, I want my baby here. He cleared his throat, then I saw a tear. I wish I could show you, what your child is doing today. If you could see your child's smile, and with other children and says, "We go to Earth to learn our lessons of love and life and fear, my mommy loved me oh so much that, I got to come here. I feel so lucky to have a mom who had so much love for me, I learned my lessons quickly, my mommy set me free." " I miss my mommy oh so much, I visit her every day. When she goes to sleep at night, her pillow is where I lay. I stroke her hair and kiss her cheek and whisper in her ear..... Mommy don't be sad today, I'm your baby and I'm here to stay." So you see my dear sweet one, your child is okay your baby is in my home, and this is where he'll stay. He will wait for you with me until your lesson is through, And on that day that you come home, he'll be at the gate waiting for you. So now you see what makes a Mother, it's a feeling in your heart, it's the love you had so much of right from the start. Though some on Earth may not realize you're his mother until their time is done, They'll be up here with me one day, and know you're the best one!!! |
