Austin Powers In Goldmember
Dir: Jay Roach (2002)
Starring: Mike Myers, Beyonce Knowles, Seth Green, Michael York, Robert Wagner, Mindy Sterling, Verne Troyer and Michael Caine.
This the third film in the ongoing adventure of the ultimate gentleman spy, Austin Powers (Mike Myers), see him up against his old rival Dr Evil (Myers again) this time Dr Evil has another fool proof plan for world domination which Powers of course foils and catches Dr Evil for the first time.  Dr Evil is imprisoned in Geneva and in a scene reminiscent of Silence Of The Lambs when Austin Power's father (Michael Caine) goes missing he goes to see Dr Evil in prison for advise on how to find his father.

Teaming up with Foxy Cleopatra (Beyonce Knowles) Austin Powers sets out to track his father down.  Dr Evil escapes from prison to join his henchman Goldmember (Myers AGAIN!) and try to take over the world one more time, but he forgets about Mini Me (Verne Troyer) who decides to switch sides!

This comedy franchise is starting to become a little tired but could still be fed more life to it, if we consider that the lamentable Police Academy franchise went to 7 films then Austin Powers has plenty of life left in him.  I for one hope for more of these films, they are pure comedic fun, escapism at its purest, the greatest thing about these films is that they do not pretend to have any hidden meanings they are just spoofing the entire spy film genre, just for laughs and it is wonderful to see.

An amusing 4 out of 5.
