Babes In Arms

Going down to Cotteridge town, dark side of the day
Passing by street parades all the children play
And there’s girls and boys with their deadly toys
Marching two by two in the rain
Quickly losing their charms like babes in arms

Wave the flag, bang the drum, march in step ‘n time
Shoulder arms, hold a gun make innocence a crime
Young at heart, that’s the scary part
With looks old enough to kill
How they lose their charms like babes in arms

Stay young at heart, be a child, life is there to live
To love and laugh the whole day through
Give all you have to give
And be filled with wonder at the sound of thunder
Hold your hand out to catch the pouring rain
Lest you lose your charms, like babes in arms
