All is quiet in my life tonight.
You soared like a leadened kite,
To fall down, to meet the ground.
To never, ever forget the sound,
Of a grown mans’ wail,
Watch you friends turn pale,
When the discovered the horrid truth,
Of a man in the prime of youth.
The pressures of an unkind world,
From your shoulders could not be hurled.
We all watched you grow, mature,
Now we have a tree, you in nature.
Kind, courteous, clever and bright,
Though you may not be as pure as white.
Nothing you could have done,
Could be so bad, for you to be gone,
For you to pay such a price.
That you should choose to toss the dice,
The roll, snake eyes, you lose!
Why, given your intellect, did you choose,
To end your life in such a violent way,
No matter what anyone could say.
So alone, I had to face my hardest task.
But of myself I will always ask,
Why you would not talk to me.
But I guess it wasn’t to be,
Maybe I failed the ultimate test,
Though I always now aim to be the best.
The sun always sets,
Dim the lights,
Fade to black.

But you ought to know, I loved you.
