Ride-along Program
The Princeton Police Department ride-along program is a program for Explorers 16 years of age or older or a sophmore in high school, who have completed classroom training in nine different areas, consisting of the following: post guidelines, the police department's geographical area, traffic and patrol functions, communications and radio procedures, report writing, expected conduct of explorers, code of conduct for police officers, police vehicle and equipment, and dress and equipment required when participating. 

The ride-along program allows explorers to ride with police officers of the Princeton Police Department and observe duties and functions of the police officers and the department.

Along with the required nine areas of training, the explorers are trained in other areas of law enforcement consisting of some of the following: handcuffing, traffic stops, defensive tactics, D.U.I. enforcement, C.P.R., and gun safety and use.

The explorers are not allowed to participate or observe any high risk calls.  The explorers are not allowed to carry any firearms.

The explorers will assist officers in functions while in the program, consisting of some of the following:  traffic and crowd control, radio operations, protection of a crime scene, assisting in service calls, and assisting in community programs.
