Autumn Sits on the Corner
The rains have returned,
After summer holiday
Of grasses brown burned,
Reservoirs almost empty,
And dusty long days.
The nights begin cooling down
As green spreads across the ground.
Trees drink the sky tears
As warm play ends for children,
Hair cuts and clean ears
They return to class again
To harvest learning
From ancient books and teachers
As the year turns in colors.
Skies are softer grays,
Crystal blue and clouds fluff white,
Skies of shorter days
That rush quicker into night
Over color change
Trees tinge with yellow and red
Preparing colorful shed.
The rains have returned,
As warm play ends for children,
Skies of shorter days
Gloom
