Far After Hours
I rang the bell beside the dim lit door,
I was let in since I’d been there before,
It might be called a late night club not a bar,
But where ever you go it’s there you are.
Nowhere, after hours of legal drink

Soon the sun would rise for another day,
T’was a place for people that lost their way.
I went to the stool where often had sat
The bartender did not wanted to chat,
But neither did I and did not insist
She just brought a neat Canadian Mist.
Nowhere, it’s just a place to sit and think.

There’s only about six sips in a shot,
By three sips the night was almost forgot
My mind moving onward to the morrow
Lengthening like coming new day’s shadow
That creep down the wall and on to the floor
She asked me if I wanted any more,
Smiling then she put two drinks on my tab
We both know it was one more than I had
But was something that had been done before
As she took money out of the drawer.
Then home again to my dark home tower,
To sleep after a quick shave and shower,
A short sleep and reality once more,
I fed the cat and left locking the door.
