Life Songs
T'is a sad song that runs through my brain today
as there are no fingers to caress my face,
my courtyard is devoid of children at play
their sounds of laughter the air does not grace.
The city waits outside my bolted door
It’s music and beats makes a working day song
That from the outside relentlessly in does pour
Attempting to fill my melody all day long,
But it’s another form of empty, nothing more.
If I had the tears, I'd cry a river for my sadness,
If I had a light, I'd not sit alone in the darkness
listening to old songs filled with memories
that return with vinyl spins to haunt me
hmmm perhaps I’ll play a little "Dark Side of the Moon"
