On the Winter Streets
Lash me harsh with the cold wind,
Numb my feelings and chill skin
Till thoughts stop of summer days.
Coat me with layers of white,
Snow that covers in the night,
Freeze me as winter now plays.
Pull me down on ice so slick,
Punish me for a step too quick,
Keep me from going my ways.
Bind my travel with ice sheets,
Visionless treacherous street,
Twisted metal on highways.
Winter’s time to stay inside,
Find some warm and there to hide.
Gloom
