You see my face in the shadows of thought,
And yet you don’t know the gift that’s been brought,
Your gaze chills me to the bone’s warm marrow
My eyes now are down cast in their sorrow,

Why did I bother to step into view?

You see my heart setting out before you,
To expose feelings that are seen by few,
Then to have you casually go from me,
My heart exposed to a world that won’t see.

Why did I bother to step into view?

So I gather my heart’s shattered feelings,
And I carry them back to dark hidings,
To your eyes my heart is almost nothing,
I’ll keep to endless winter avoiding spring.
