The Poetry of cecil
Silence awoke me,
As easily as if your alarm had sounded,
I saw the time,
Then I checked again,
With one I had to wind,
And it wasn’t quite the same,
Then I noticed the coming dawn,
And the light out down the hall,
Waking you with a yawn,
I said, “You’re Late.”
In moments you were up,
And going before I knew,
I fixed you a warming cup,
As you transformed yourself.
From sleepy angel of mine
To the daylight delight of theirs
Meeting every challenge you find.
You gathered yourself,
Things from the drawers,
Items from the shelf,
And soon was hurrying,
Rushing out the door,
You stopped half down the walk,
To turn to see me watching,
Slowly you returned to me,
A kiss leisure in it’s taking.
