Shuffle step,
Across the dingy once white,
Wind blows passed,
Rolling trash,
Limps into another night;
Shuffle step.

Ruckus walk,
White powder and dark brown beer,
Almost men
Yet just boys,
Repeat offenders to fear,
More than noise,
Yet not men,
There are none whom can now steer
More than talk.

Shuffling into coming noise,
Unknowing,
Stops surrounded by the boys,
Red and darkness overcomes,
They’re pounding,
As if his body were drums,
Then crumpled upon the ground
They’re kicking,
Off they go with laughter’s sound.

Eyes find light,
And waves of pain turns to bliss,
Room of white,
Dress of white,
An angel where eyes can’t miss
Pleasant slight
All in white,
This must be death’s final kiss,
No more night,
No more fight,
The softest end he could wish,
Gone the light.
The nurse gives his brow a kiss.
